Each speaker has a ange running around the speaker that makes it a simple
matter to screw it to studs (via the predrilled and countersunk holes). The face of
the speaker and its ange are 5/8” thick, a standard thickness for wall construc-
tion materials, which can butt up to the edge of the speaker to form a smooth
surface.
The connections to the speaker may be made either before or after the speaker
is screwed to the wall that has been framed for it. (We usually nd it easier to
do after the speaker is securely in place.) The connections are made under a re-
movable cover plate at the bottom of the speaker.
Double-stacking The top of the LS3i and LS4i speaker features an interlocking “key” system for
registration of two speakers that are stacked with each other to form an even
taller line source. By ipping the upper speaker upside down, the protrusions of
one t into the recesses on the other, ensuring proper alignment.
These features make is a relatively simple matter to accommodate situation in
which a taller line source is required, as in the case of a larger theater with sta-
dium seating.
