Connecting your HD DVR to the Internet means getting access to thousands of titles and shows across the entire DIRECTV library. To
connect your DIRECTV
®
HD DVR to your home network, you will need:
A DIRECTV HD DVR model HR20, HR34, HR44 or later, or DIRECTV Plus
®
DVR (model R22)
A broadband Internet connection, with a connection speed of 750 kbps or higher (DSL or cable).
A network router with an open Ethernet port, and/or wireless capability.
Connection instructions vary based on the type of DIRECTV service you have. Please see the appropriate sections that follow.
If you have Whole-Home service:
Professionally Installed DIRECTV CINEMA
®
Connection Kit (CCK): Schedule a professional installation appointment at
directv.com/getconnected.
Wireless Self-Installed DIRECTV CCK: If you already connect to the Internet via WiFi, you can order the wireless CCK at
directv.com or by calling 1.800.531.5000 and connect it yourself with the instructions provided with the equipment.*
If you do not have Whole-Home service:
Wired: The fastest, most reliable connection is a wired configuration. Requires running an Ethernet cable from a network
router to your DIRECTV HD DVR.
Wireless: This is the easiest method if you already connect to the Internet via WiFi. However, a wireless connection may be
slower and less reliable than wired. You can order the DIRECTV Wireless CCK from directv.com, or at 1.800.531.5000.
For information for accounts without Whole-Home service, please see the instructions on the pages that follow.
NOTE: *If you have the DIRECTV Genie HR44 Receiver, the DIRECTV CINEMA Connection Kit is not required to connect to the
Internet. Please see page 165 later in this Appendix for special instructions for connecting your Genie HR44 HD DVR Receiver
to the Internet.
For the most current information on connecting your Receiver to the Internet, visit directv.com/getconnected.
