Before you begin
Connecting the components of the phone
CAUTION
Damage to Equipment
Do not plug your Avaya 1140E IP Deskphone into a
regular phone jack. This results in severe damage to
the IP Deskphone. Consult your system administrator
to ensure that you plug your IP Deskphone into a 10/
100BaseT Ethernet jack.
CAUTION
Your Avaya 1140E IP Deskphone is designed for use
in an indoor environment only.
WARNING
Your Avaya 1140E IP Deskphone is shipped with the
base locked in position. To avoid damaging your phone,
press the wall-mount lever, located just under the
Handsfree key as indicated in Figure 5 on page 42, to
release the base and pull it away from the phone.
