1.Printtheseinstructions.
2.Saveallopenles,andexitallprograms.
3.Turnyourtabletoffandthenturnitonagain.
4.Whenthelogoscreenisdisplayed,tap“Tointerruptnormalstartup,pressEnter”.TheBootMenu
windowopens.
5.TaptheApplicationMenutab.TapSetup.TheThinkPadSetupprogrammainmenuopens.
6.TapSecurity.
7.TapPassword.
8.TapHardDisk1Password.
9.Apasswordwindowopens.YouarepromptedtoselectUserorUser+Master.SelectUserifyouwant
tosetonlyoneharddiskpassword.Ifyouareanadministratororsupervisor,youcanselectUser+
Mastertosettwopasswords.(Theusercanchangetheuserpasswordlater.)
•IfyouselectUser+Master,dothefollowing:
a.Whenawindowforenteringthenewuserharddiskpasswordopens,enteryournewpasswordin
theEnterNewPasswordeld.TapEnter.
b.IntheConrmNewPasswordeld,reenterthepasswordyoujustenteredtoverifyit.TapEnter.
c.Amessagewindowopensandpromptsyoutosetthemasterharddiskpassword.TapEnterto
continue.
d.Awindowforenteringthenewmasterharddiskpasswordopens.Enteryournewpasswordin
theEnterNewPasswordeld.TapEnter.
e.IntheConrmNewPasswordeld,reenterthepasswordyoujustenteredtoverifyit.TapEnter.
•IfyouselectUseronly,dothefollowing:

–YoucansettheminimumlengthofaharddiskpasswordthroughtheSecuritymenu.
–Ifyousetaharddiskpasswordofoversevencharacters,theharddiskdrivecanbeusedonly
withacomputerthatcanrecognizeaharddiskpasswordofoversevencharacters.Ifyouthen
installtheharddiskdriveinacomputerthatcannotrecognizeaharddiskpasswordthat
containsmorethansevencharacters,youcannotgetaccesstothedrive.
b.IntheConrmNewPasswordeld,reenterthepasswordyoujustenteredtoverifyit.TapEnter.
Attention:Youmightwanttonotedownyourpasswordsandkeeptheminasafeplace.Otherwise,if
youforgettheuserpassword,orbothuserandmasterpasswords,Lenovocannotresetyourpasswords
orrecoverdatafromthemSATAsolid-statedrive.YoumusttakeyourtablettoaLenovoresellerora
marketingrepresentativetohavethemSATAsolid-statedrivereplaced.Proofofpurchaseisrequired,
andafeewillbechargedforpartsandservice.
