Scale Model Material

You can use this Learning Kit on an existing layout or practice on a piece of cardboard, wood or Woodland Scenics

Foam Sheet. There is enough material included in this kit to landscape a 2x2-foot surface.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Mix entire bottle of Earth Undercoat with 2 bottles of water (2:1 ratio).

Generously brush over entire modeling area to create a base color with light and

dark patches of terrain. Let dry.

2. Cut off corner of Green Blend Blended Turf bag, spray modeling area with

Scenic Cement, then sprinkle over Earth Undercoat (Fig. 1). Let Earth Undercoat

show through in some spots to create a realistic appearance. Use approximately

3/4 of the bag. Save remainder for touch up work.

3. Open other bags of Fine Turf. They will be used to create a more realistic

appearance by varying the color and texture of the landscape. Spray area

with Scenic Cement

. Sprinkle Burnt Grass and Earth Fine Turfs to model

realistic color variations. Soil Fine Turf can be used to model darker patches of

landscape or a path. Mix and blend the assorted Fine Turfs until satisfied with

color and texture of landscape. To seal landscape, spray Scenic Cement over

entire terrain (Fig. 2).

4. Open Medium Green Clump-Foliage

bag. Apply patches of white glue

randomly over layout surface for placement of bushes and other vegetation

(Fig. 3). Press pieces of Clump-Foliage into glue. We recommend Scenic Glue

(S190) which dries to a clear, matte finish.

5. Open Medium Green Coarse Turf bag and sprinkle some of the contents around

base of Clump-Foliage bushes. This helps the bushes blend with the landscape.

Also sprinkle Medium Green Coarse Turf in random areas around layout to vary

texture of landscape.

6. Use Yellow Grass Fine Turf to add lighter highlights around the layout.

7. Spray entire model with a final coat of Scenic Cement. Allow to dry.
