Chapter 9 Quality of Service (QoS) 87
9.3 Class Setup
Click Advanced Setup > Quality of Service > Class Setup to configure QoS classifiers. A classifier
groups traffic into data flows according to specific criteria such as the source address, destination
address, source port number, destination port number or incoming interface.
You can give different priorities to traffic that the Rou
ter forwards out through the WAN interface.
Give high priority to voice and video to make them run more smoothly. Similarly, give low priority to
many large file downloads so that they do not reduce the quality of other applications.

Queue
Precedence
Select a queue precedence level (from 1 to 8) to configure for the selected interface. The
smaller the number, the higher the priority level. Traffic assigned to higher priority
queues gets through faster while traffic in lower priority queues is dropped if the
network is congested. If the queue precedence level already has a queue scheduler
configured, it displays after the precedence level.
The Router uses strict priority to service queues with different precedences.
Minimum Rate This displays for GPON interface queues.
Specify the minimum transmission rate (in Kbps) allowed for traffic on this queue.

Class Name This displays the name of the classifier rule.
Order This displays the rule’s place in the list of classifi
er rules. The Router checks traffic
against classifiers in order until it matches one.
