17. QuickSync Setting
WyreStorm QuickSync is a new matrix feature that significantly enhances end-user experience by dramatically reducing
the amount of time source devices need to communicate HDCP encryption data between the matrix and output
devices.
Typically, when a matrix device distributes multiple sources to multiple zones, each sink device (TV, digital projector,
etc.) requires a repeated process of HDCP data negotiation between each source connected to the matrix every time a
source is switched; with the time this process takes often resulting in an interrupted signal / ‘blank’ screen for up to 7
seconds whilst TV and source exchange HDCP encryption data and content is released to the matrix.
Though maintaining the integrity of HDCP encryption, this process offers no end-user advantage over local source
switching with a remote control, and actually detracts from the real benefits of a matrix distribution and control.
As WyreStorm’s new QuickSync technology maintains a constant HDCP handshake between each source and all
connected sink devices, this HDCP negotiation is only required once and thus switching between devices is reduced to
mere fractions of a second, all but eliminating the signal interruption ‘blank screen’. The result is virtually instantaneous
communication between sources, with completely frameless switching possible with modern screens, indistinguishable
from a changing channels via the TV tuner.
NOTE Depending on the settings of the incoming source content a delay may still exist where resolution
between screen and source requires negotiation, but EDID is still communicated as normal when this the
QuickSync feature is enabled.
This feature is NOT enabled out of the box and must be manually activated within the COMCTL serial
configuration program.
See COMCTL section for settings p.13/14
QuickSync activation
1) Launch the COMCTL program, select the correct COM
port and press connect . The connected status
should be confirmed by the green indicator symbol
2) Click the settings button in the top left of the window
3) Select the Quick Switch option in the top left of the
settings window and click OK in the dialogue box to
activate the function.
4) The matrix and all connected sources must be
rebooted for QuickSync settings to become active.
We recommend enabling this feature before sources are
powered on for the first time.
