26 Chapter 3 Using your Tablet PC
Using USB
You can use the two integrated USB 2.0 ports to connect USB devices, such as digital
cameras, printers, external storage devices, keyboards, and mice. USB devices typically use
power from the computer, so you should use AC power or have adequate battery power
while you are using USB devices.
To use a USB device, connect the device to the USB port ( ) on the side of the Tablet PC.
When you connect a USB device, the Tablet PC recognizes it and loads the appropriate
device driver. You can connect and disconnect USB devices without shutting down your
computer.
Using Ethernet
You can use the integrated 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet port (RJ-45) to connect to an
Ethernet network, high-speed modem, or another computer.
To connect to an Ethernet network or device, connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet
port ( ) on the left side of the Tablet PC.
Using the display
Use the procedures in this section to customize your display settings. You can adjust the
brightness level, rotate the display, and change the order in which the display rotates.
Adjusting the display brightness
Use this procedure to change the brightness of the display.
To adjust the display brightness
1. Open Motion Dashboard to the Display panel (page 20).
2. Set the Brightness slider to the appropriate level.
For optimal battery conservation and viewability, set the brightness scale to the mid-
point or slightly above.
3. Select one of the following:
Fixed. Sets the display brightness to a constant level. Use the slider to adjust the
display to the desired brightness level. The ambient light sensor is not used with fixed
brightness.
Dynamic. Uses the ambient light sensor to maintain an appropriate brightness level
for the current lighting conditions. Using dynamic brightness helps to reduce power
consumption while running on battery power.
