•
The
XS
Power
12-Volt
AGM
Performance
battery
is
a
six
cell,
sealed-valve
regulated
,
lead-acid
battery.
Sealed-valve
regulated.
lead-
acid(VRLA)
batteries
are
manufactured
in
two
types
,
gel-cell
and
AGM(Absorbent
Glass
Mat).

is
how
the
electrolyte
is
suspended
between

lead
plates.
AGM
batteries

as
the

Power
12-Vott
AGM
Performance
Batteries.

fibrous
material

suspend
all
liquid

the
electrolyte

gel

necessarily

AGM
batte1ies
are
similar
in
chemical
function
to
flooded
and
maintenance
free
battmies
in
that

convert
electrical
energy
into
chemical
reactions
on
the
lead
plates.
AGM
batteries
differ
in
the
amount
ot
electrolyte
used.
AGM
batteries
have
substantially
less
electrol}1e
than
a
typical
flooded
or
maintenance
free
battery
.
Operating
witt1less
acid
is
possible
in
an
AGM
battery
oecause
eacli
cell
in
tl1e
battery
operates
on
a
slight
positive
air
pressure.
This
air
pressure
allows
tor
the
water
produced
during
discharge
to
condensate
and
therefore
recycle
inside
the
battery.
Hence
almost
no
gasses
escape
the
battery
under
proper
charging
conditions.
If
the
battery
were
to
be
overcharged
,
the
small
amount
of
electrolytes
could
be
"uassed"
and
verrted
by
means
of
tl1e
safety
valves
from
tl1e
battery.
This
is
the
rnain
cause
o:
premature
AGM
battery
failure
and
tlJerefore
sllould
be
avoided
.
The
cells
are
compressed
before
inserMn
into
the
case.

increases
performance
and
makes

battery
extremely
vibrabon
resistant.
The
reduced
acid
content
of
the
battery
allows
for
additional
plates
and
therefore
additional
performance
in
an
AGM
design
