and also has sufficient signal strengt h. It blinks orange once each second when the
received signal is too weak to comm unic ate.
Buffer: Data Buffer. This yellow LED is lit w hen there is data in the data buf fer
waiting to be t r ans m itted, and off when the data buffer is em pty.
Some typic al pr oblem s indicated by the operation of t hes e LED’s are:
The SV LED blinks ever y 5 s ec onds and the modem LED’s are off. The
battery v oltage is too low and the modem has been turned off. Unplug the
battery c able from the controller board and rec harge or replace t he battery.
The Signal LED is gr een and the Buffer LE D is yellow and never goes out.
There is good signal s trength but data is not being trans m itted, possibly due
to satellites not being in view long enough to transmit or bec aus e the
transmis s ion is not being accepted due to inc or r ec t Orbcomm account or
modem configur ations. Contact Global Water t o have the s atellite activity
checked.
The Signal LED is alway s red. This indicates a weak or absent signal. Check
the antenna position, coax cable and connec tors. Another poss ibility is that
the modem has been damaged due to an electric al s ur ge.
Data is being trans m itted but one or more sensor r eadings ar e inc or r ec t:
Check the wiring bet w een the sensors and the contr oller boar d.
For analog sensor s , check that the configuration jumpers ar e s et correctly for
the sensor type and supply voltage.
If all t he s ensor readings are wr ong, press the test button and use a voltmeter
to measure the voltage applied to t he s ens or s while the SV LE D is lit. It
should be within 0.5 v olts of the batter y v oltage.
If a sensor does not appear in the dat abas e, check that it is defined correctly
in the sensor c onfiguration window.
The sensor appear s to work but the values in the databas e ar e w r ong, check
the Adder and Multiplier calibration numbers in the s ens or c onfigurations .
Confirm with Global Water that the sensor channel was enabled when the
SIT65 was pr ogr am med at the factory. To reduce data char ges , only sensor
channels that ar e enabled will transm it. Enabling new channels requires that
the unit be returned to the factory, this will also affec t subscription fees.
