OFF All electrical systems are off. The key can be removed. EWA10061 LOCK The main switch/steering lock controls the ignition and lighting systems, and is used to lock the steering. The various positions are described below.

If you do not reset the fuel reserve tripmeter manually, it will reset itself automatically, and the display will return to the prior mode after refueling and traveling 5 km (3 mi).

Spring preload adjusting ring This shock absorber assembly is equipped with a spring preload adjusting ring, allowing the spring preload to be adjusted to suit the rider’s preference. It is recommended to have a Yamaha dealer adjust the spring preload. ● Should you choose to make the adjustment, use the special wrench included in the additional tool kit, which was handed out separately at the purchase of the vehicle.

This may cause the unit to explode due to excessive gas pressure. Do not deform or damage the cylinder in any way. Cylinder damage will result in poor damping performance. Do not dispose of a damaged or worn-out shock absorber assembly yourself. Take the shock absorber assembly to a Yamaha dealer for any service.
INSTRUMENT AND CONTROL FUNCTIONS EAU44892 Ignition circuit cut-off system The ignition circuit cut-off system (comprising the sidestand switch, clutch switch and neutral switch) has the following functions. ● It prevents starting when the transmission is in gear and the sidestand is up, but the clutch lever is not pulled. ● It prevents starting when the transmission is in gear and the clutch lever is pulled, but the sidestand is still down.

FOR YOUR SAFETY – PRE-OPERATION CHECKS EAU15596 Inspect your vehicle each time you use it to make sure the vehicle is in safe operating condition. Always follow the inspection and maintenance procedures and schedules described in the Owner’s Manual. EWA11151 WARNING Failure to inspect or maintain the vehicle properly increases the possibility of an accident or equipment damage. Do not operate the vehicle if you find any problem.

If there is a control or function you do not understand, ask your Yamaha dealer. TIP This model is equipped with: ● a lean angle sensor to stop the engine in case of a turnover.

NOTICE: For maximum engine life, never accelerate hard when the engine is cold![ECA11132] If the engine fails to start, release the start switch, wait a few seconds, and then try again. Each starting attempt should be as short as possible to preserve the battery. Do not crank the engine more than 10 seconds on any one attempt.

The air filter element needs to be replaced more frequently when riding in unusually wet or dusty areas. Hydraulic brake service After disassembling the brake master cylinders and calipers, always change the fluid. Regularly check the brake fluid levels and fill the reservoirs as required.

PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT Before installing a spark plug, the spark plug gap should be measured with a wire thickness gauge and, if necessary, adjusted to specification. 1 installing a spark plug, a good estimate of the correct torque is 1/4–1/2 turn past finger tight. However, the spark plug should be tightened to the specified torque as soon as possible.

In addition, the oil must be changed and the oil filter cartridge replaced at the intervals specified in the periodic maintenance and lubrication chart. To check the engine oil level 1. Place the vehicle on a level surface and hold it in an upright position. A slight tilt to the side can result in a false reading. 2.
