3. Disconnect the steering cable joint 2
from the ball joint 3.
4. Turn the steering cable joint 2 in or out
to adjust distances a and b.
WARNING! The steering cable joint
must be screwed in more than 8 mm
(0.31 in) c.
5. Connect the steering cable joint 2 to the
ball joint 3, and then tighten the locknut
1 to the specified torque.
6. Check the difference of distances a and
b again.
7. If the jet thrust nozzle steering angle can-
not be properly adjusted using the cable
joint at the steering master end, adjust
the cable joint at the jet pump end so that
the difference of distances a and b is
within specification. See Steering cable
installation (jet pump end) (8-17).
8. Install the service lid. See Front hood
(8-8).
Electrical
Battery check
Battery electrolyte is poisonous and dan-
gerous, causing severe burns, etc. Elec-
trolyte contains sulfuric acid. Avoid
contact with skin, eyes or clothing.
Antidotes
External: Flush with water.
Internal: Drink large quantities of water or
milk. Follow with milk of magnesia,
beaten egg or vegetable oil. Call physi-
cian immediately.
Eyes: Flush with water for 15 minutes and
get prompt medical attention.
Batteries produce explosive gases. Keep
sparks, flame, cigarettes, etc., well away.
If using or charging the battery in an
enclosed space, make sure that it is well
ventilated. Always shield your eyes when
working near batteries.
KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHIL-
DREN.
Turn in Distance a is increased.
Turn out Distance b is increased.
Locknut 1: 7 N·m (0.7 kgf·m, 5.2 ft·lb)
