Cylinder head check
Do not use a sharp instrument to avoid
damaging or scratching the cylinder head
or spark plug bore threads.
1. Eliminate the carbon deposits (using a
rounded scraper 1).
2. Check the cylinder head water jacket.
Clean or replace the cylinder head if
there is corrosion or mineral deposits.
3. Measure the cylinder head warpage.
Resurface if out of specification or if
there are score marks.
TIP:
Place 400600 grit wet sandpaper on a sur-
face plate and resurface the cylinder head
using a figure-eight sanding pattern.
Cylinder head installation
1. Install the cylinder head, and then tighten
the bolts to the specified torque in the
order 1, 2, and so on.
Warpage limit: 0.1 mm (0.004 in)
Cylinder head bolt:
1st: 15 N·m (1.5 kgf·m, 11.1 ft·lb)
2nd: 29 N·m (2.9 kgf·m, 21.4 ft·lb)
