The A3000 lets you set up the six function keys as MIDI keys (keyboard keys), so that
you can use them to produce sound from the selected program (more specifically, to
send Note-On messages to the program). You set up each function key by designating
its transmission channel, note number, and velocity.
In order to actually use the function keys to produce sound, you must first set the
ASSIGNABLE key so that it works with this feature. (Go to the UTILITY | SYSTEM
Keys page and set the ASSIGNABLE parameter to FKey Play on/off.) Once you have
done this, you can toggle function-key playback on and off by pressing the ASSIGN-
ABLE key — press once to enable playback (the ASSIGNABLE lamp comes on); press
again to return the keys to their normal operation (the lamp goes off).
Note that you cannot use function-key playback while working in RECORDING mode,
or while using certain other A3000 screens.
Knob 1 Change Page Select P/S
Turn the knob to change to a different page within the PANEL PLAY function. Avail-
able pages are: KnobCtl, KnobSet, and FKeySet (this page).
Push the knob to move to the Program/Sample Selection screen. (95)
Knob 2 FKey# = 1,...,6
Select the function key that you to set up, by its function-key number (where numbers
run from left to right; “1” identifies to the leftmost key). You can then use Knobs 2 to 5
to set the values for the selected function key. You then repeat this sequence for each
function key that you want to set up: first select the function key with Knob 2, then set
the values using Knobs 3 to 5.
