INTRODUCTION CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS Front panel 1 Disc tray Loads a disc. 7 Remote control sensor Receives signals from the remote control. 2 (Open/Close) Opens or closes the disc tray. For loading and unloading discs, see page 8. 8 iPod/USB port Connect your iPod or USB device. See page 9 for details. 3 (Power) Press inward to the ON position to turn on the power. y • The power indicator above lights up when this unit is turned on.

CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS I Time and playback mode indicator Indicates the current playback mode and the status of the time display (see pages 5 and 8 for playback modes, and page 6 for time display). The number corresponding to an empty tray may light up before the tray is selected.

CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS Remote control INTRODUCTION 4 PROGRAM Turns on or off the program playback mode. See “Program playback” on page 8. 5 DIMMER Each time you press DIMMER, the brightness level changes by 4 levels. y This setting is retained even if you turn off this unit. 6 Numeric buttons Use to select directly a track on the disc or a file in the current folder. 7 (Search backward), (Search forward) Searches tracks backward/forward while the button is pressed.

CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS E REPEAT Repeats playback of a single track or all tracks. Each time you press REPEAT during playback, the repeat playback mode changes as follows: • REP TRACK (single repeat playback): A single track is played back repeatedly. • REP ALL (all repeat playback): All tracks (the entire disc) are played back repeatedly. Data Disc H CLEAR Erases the programmed track. I ENTER Confirms a track number entered when you are programming tracks. J (Pause) Pauses playback.

CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS ■ Installing batteries in the remote control Press the part and slide the battery compartment cover off. 2 Insert the two supplied batteries (AA, R6, UM-3) according to the polarity markings (+ and –) on the inside of the battery compartment. 3 Slide the cover back until it snaps into place. ■ Using the remote control The remote control transmits a directional infrared beam.

OPERATION LOADING AND PLAYING DISCS You can load or replace five discs at a time. 1 Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray and load discs. Use the disc guides to align the discs correctly in the tray. Label side upward 1 Press PROGRAM while playback is stopped. This unit is set to the program editing mode. 2 Select a disc with one of the DISC (1-5) buttons on the front panel or DISC SKIP / on the remote control. 3 Select a track by using the numeric buttons and ENTER.

PLAYING BACK iPod/USB DEVICE Connecting iPod/USB devices Notes iPod • Use the USB cable supplied with your iPod. If no USB cable is supplied, purchase one from Apple Inc. • Turn off your iPod. • Do not use a USB hub. OPERATION 1 4 Connect your USB device or iPod via USB cable Playing back iPod 1 2 Press CD/USB to select the iPod/USB mode. The iPod/USB indicator on the front panel lights up in orange, then changes to green when playback is ready.

PLAYING BACK iPod/USB DEVICE Disconnecting iPod/USB devices Stop playback, and then disconnect your iPod or USB device. It is recommended that you press CD/USB to switch to the CD mode, confirm that the CD/USB indicator goes off, and then disconnect your iPod/USB device. CAUTION Do not disconnect your iPod or USB device while playing back from the connected device, or while “USB READING” appears in the front panel display.

PLAYABLE DISC AND FILE FORMAT ■ Handling compact discs • Always handle with care so that the playing surface is not scratched. Do not warp discs. • To keep clean the playing surface, wipe with a clean, dry cloth. Do not use any type of disc cleaner, spray, or any other chemical-based liquid. • Do not wipe with a circular motion; wipe straight outward from the center. • Use a soft-tipped pen when writing on the label side of the disc.

USING THE ADVANCED SETUP This unit is equipped with the following four special modes, which may be useful for special purposes at stores or offices. To activate and configure Advanced setup, follow the steps below. Use the buttons on the front panel. Note Activate Advanced setup PURE DIRECT + The special mode functions are incompatible with iPod.

TROUBLESHOOTING If the unit fails to operate normally, check the following points to determine whether the problem can be corrected by the simple measures suggested. If it cannot be corrected, or if the problem is not listed in the Problems column, disconnect the power cable and contact your authorized Yamaha dealer or service center for help. Possible Causes This unit fails to turn on. The power cable is not connected to the AC IN inlet on the rear panel or not plugged in the wall outlet.

Move the tuner and this unit farther apart or turn off this unit. — Noise from inside of the disc tray.

Cuando la bandeja de discos se cierra tras cargar/sustituir discos, la unidad busca discos empezando por la bandeja 1. Durante la búsqueda, los números de bandeja correspondientes a las bandejas vacías se apagan. Cuando se selecciona un disco, la búsqueda se finaliza en ese punto y no se busca el resto de bandejas.

Cada vez que pulse REPEAT durante la reproducción, el modo reproducción con repetición cambiará de la siguiente manera: • REP TRACK (reproducción con repetición única): Se reproduce repetidamente una pista individual. • REP ALL (reproducción con repetición completa): Se reproducen repetidamente todas las pistas (el disco completo).

CONTROLES Y FUNCIONES ■ Instalar las pilas en el control remoto Presione el extremo que muestra la señal y deslice la cubierta del compartimento de las pilas. 2 Introduzca las dos baterías suministradas (AA, R6, UM-3) según las marcas de polaridad (+ y –) del interior del compartimiento. 3 Vuelva a deslizar la cubierta en sentido contrario hasta que encaje en su lugar. ■ Uso del control remoto El control remoto transmite un haz infrarrojo direccional.

FUNCIONAMIENTO CARGA Y REPRODUCCIÓN DE DISCOS Puede cargar o sustituir cinco discos simultáneamente. 1 Pulse OPEN/CLOSE para abrir la bandeja de discos y cargar discos. Utilice las guías para alinear los discos correctamente en la bandeja. 1 Pulse PROGRAM cuando la reproducción esté detenida. La unidad entra en el modo de edición de la programación. 2 Seleccione un disco con uno de los botones DISC (1-5) del panel frontal o DISC SKIP / del control remoto.

REPRODUCIR UN iPod/DISPOSITIVO USB Conectar un iPod/dispositivos USB Notas iPod • Utilice el cable USB suministrado con su iPod. Si no se entrega ningún cable USB, adquiera uno en Apple Inc. • Desactive el iPod. • No utilice un concentrador USB. FUNCIONAMIENTO 1 4 Conecte su dispositivo USB o su iPod con un cable USB Reproducir el iPod 1 Pulse CD/USB para seleccionar el modo iPod/USB.

REPRODUCIR UN iPod/DISPOSITIVO USB Desconectar un iPod/dispositivos USB Detenga la reproducción y desconecte el iPod o el dispositivo USB. Es recomendable que pulse CD/USB para cambiar al modo CD, que confirme que el indicador CD/USB se apaga y que luego desconecte el iPod/ dispositivo USB. PRECAUCIÓN No desconecte el iPod o dispositivo USB mientras está reproduciendo desde el dispositivo conectado, ni mientras “USB READING” aparece en la pantalla del panel frontal.

FORMATO DE ARCHIVOS Y DISCOS REPRODUCIBLES ■ Manipular los discos compactos • Manipule siempre los discos con cuidado de no rayar la superficie de reproducción. No flexione los discos. • Para mantener la superficie de reproducción limpia, pásele un trapo seco y limpio. No utilice ningún tipo de producto de limpieza para discos, spray o cualquier otro líquido químico. • No limpie el disco con movimientos circulares, sino desde el centro hacia afuera.

UTILIZAR LA CONFIGURACIÓN AVANZADA Esta unidad está equipada con los cuatro modos siguientes, que pueden ser útiles para fines específicos en tiendas u oficinas. Para activar y configurar la configuración avanzada, siga los siguientes pasos. Utilice los botones del panel frontal. POWER OFF Nota Las funciones del modo especial son incompatibles con el iPod.

SOLUCIÓN DE PROBLEMAS Si la unidad no funciona normalmente, realice las siguientes comprobaciones para determinar si el problema se puede corregir con los procedimientos sugeridos.
