The DSR-500 fea tures 16 basic rhythms with one variation each for a total of 32 rhythms to choose from.
In addition to the basic start and stop opera tions, the DSR-500's Key Start and IntroVEnding features offer you a different way of starting and stopping the rhythm. rznHUD Pressing both selectors at the same time will restore the preset tempo, J = 120 (120 beats per minute). The PARAMETER/ VALUE indicator will display 16 when this operation is performed. This is a standard tempo, and is automatically selected when power is turned on. Notice that each time A or ▼ is pressed, the number shown in the PARAMETER/ VALUE indicator changes.

■j ■^ About MIDI MIDI Quelques mots sur l’interface MIDI MIDI MIDI is an acronym standing for Musical In strument Digital Interface, which is a world wide standard for connecting keyboards and other musical equipment. The PortaTone DSR-500 is equipped with MIDI jacks (IN and OUT), enabling connection of the PortaTone to another keyboard or musical device equipped with MIDI jacks (e.g. the Yamaha Expander Modules) for synchronized performances.
Operating the MIDI Functions The basic procedure for operating the MIDI functions is as follows: Step 1. Press the MIDI selector and keep it held down. The MIDI mode is now solootod Step 2.
