Playing the Pads
Basic Guide
Hi-hats
Strike different sections of the pad in the same way you would play an acoustic hi-hat cymbal.
*1 With the hi-hat pad included in the DTX6K-X kit, the bow shots and the edge shots play the same sound.
*2 The front side of the pad is indicated by the Yamaha logo.
Open/Close
You can produce an open hi-hat sound by striking the hi-hat pad with the hi-hat con-
troller’s pedal fully open.
You can produce a closed hi-hat sound by striking the hi-hat pad with the hi-hat con-
troller’s pedal fully pressed.
Different hi-hat sound is produced depending on the how much the pedal is opened
or pressed.
Bow shots
Striking the main surface of the hi-hat pad (i.e., the bow section located between the
cup and edge) produces a bow shot sound.

Edge shots
Striking the front side on the outer edge of the hi-hat pad produces an edge shot
sound.

Foot-close sounds
You can press down the hi-hat controller’s pedal to create a foot-close sound without having to strike the hi-hat pad.
Hi-hat splash sounds
Pressing down the hi-hat controller’s pedal and then immediately releasing it produces a hi-hat splash sound.
