NOTE:
The oil seals must be installed before tight-
ening the crankcase bolts.
Apply engine oil to the crankcase bolts
before installation.
Tighten crankcase bolts

to the speci-
fied torques in two stages first, and then
tighten crankcase bolts

fied torques in two stages.
Make a mark

on the crankcase and
crankcase bolts, and then tighten crank-
case bolts

90° from the mark.
13. Install the piston with the UP mark on
the piston crown facing towards the fly-
wheel magnet.
NOTE:
Apply engine oil to the side of the piston and
piston rings before installation.
14. Install the connecting rod cap

to the
connecting rod, and then tighten the con-
necting rod bolts to the specified torques
in three stages.
CAUTION:
Do not reuse the connecting rod bolts,
always replace them with new ones.
NOTE:
Align the marks
i
on the connecting rod
cap and connecting rod, which you made
during disassembly.
Apply engine oil to the connecting rod cap
and connecting rod bolt before installation.
Make a mark
j
on the connecting rod bolts
and connecting rod caps, and then tighten
the bolts 90° from the mark.
15. Install the oil pump

by aligning the oil
pump gear with the crankshaft.

2nd: 90°

1st: 40 N·m (4.0 kgf·m, 29 ft·lb)

Crankcase bolt (M8):
1st: 14 N·m (1.4 kgf·m, 10 ft·lb)
2nd: 28 N·m (2.8 kgf·m, 20 ft·lb)
