Symptom: Shift mechanism of the forward gear and reverse gear does not operate properly.

Check the operation of the shift

rod.

Check the condition of the shift

rod connection between the

lower case and upper case.

Replace the shift rod.

Check the shift cables and links

of the remote control box.

Check the detent of the bottom

cowling.

Good operat-

ing condition?

Good operat-

ing condition?

Connected

properly?

Yes

Check the shift cable operation.

Disassemble the lower case,

and then check the operation of

the dog clutch.

Check the forward gear and

reverse gear.

Yes

Replace the respective parts.

Good operat-

ing condition?
