Getting ready Location Since a turntable and the sound of a record are easily affected by vibration, you should place the unit on a level surface that is extremely stable. Place the turntable sufficiently far from your speaker system so that it will not be affected by sound pressure or vibration. CAUTION If you need to lift or relocate the unit, make sure that two or more people will do so. NOTICE Do not attempt to rotate the feet. Otherwise, they might be damaged.

1 Install the sub platter onto the center spindle. 3 Screw the handles into the platter, and then lift the platter by holding the handles. NOTICE Do not apply force to the center spindle when you install the sub platter onto the center spindle. Otherwise, the center spindle might be damaged. 2 Install the belt around the sub platter and pulley. Hook the belt to the upper groove on the pulley while making sure that the belt is not twisted.
Installing a cartridge A cartridge is not included with this product. Follow the steps below to install a commercially-available cartridge into the head shell. 5 Attach the head shell to the tonearm. Insert the head shell into the front end of the tonearm, and turn the lock nut to secure it. Note Refer to the instruction manual for the cartridge. 1 Connect the lead wires to the cartridge.
Making connections CAUTION Finish making all other connections before you connect the power cord to an AC outlet. Note • Do not use both balanced and unbalanced connections at the same time. • For additional information, please refer to the owner’s manuals for the device that you are connecting. Balanced connection Use an XLR balanced cable to connect your amplifier to the BALANCED OUT jacks.
Note • When connecting, be sure to match the pins and insert the connector of the “female” XLR balanced cable. When disconnecting, pull out the “female” XLR balanced cable while pressing down the latch lock on the plug. • Connect the turntable to the XLR balanced input jacks on your amplifier. The pin assignments for these jacks are shown below.
Making adjustments Adjusting the stylus pressure Adjust the tonearm so that the appropriate stylus pressure will be applied to the record. 1 3 4 Remove the tonearm from the arm rest and move it slightly towards the record. Return the tonearm to the arm rest. Turn the VTF dial so that the “0” marking will be aligned with the center line on the back end of the tonearm. Center line Note When turning the VTF dial, use your fingers to hold the counter weight in place so that it will not rotate.
Adjusting the tonearm height If the tonearm and the record are not in parallel when you lower the stylus onto the record, you will need to adjust the tonearm height. Follow the steps below: 1 Return the tonearm to the arm rest and set it securely in position. 2 Use the hexagonal wrench to loosen the VTA adjustment screw. VTA adjustment screw NOTICE The tonearm is secured by the VTA adjustment screw.
Turning the power on Press the POWER button on the top panel of the unit to turn on the power to the unit.
Playing a record Starting the record CAUTION 4 Raise the lift lever. 5 Move the tonearm to the playback position of the record. 6 Lower the lift lever. If you start to play a record without first sufficiently lowering the volume of your amplifier, a loud sound might occur when the tip of the stylus contacts the record. This could in some cases cause hearing loss and might damage your amplifier and speakers, so be sure to lower the volume of your amplifier first.
Pausing the record If you raise the lift lever, the tonearm rise and playback pauses. When you lower the lift lever, playback resumes. Stopping the record 1 2 3 4 Raise the lift lever. Return the tonearm to the arm rest. Lower the lift lever. Press the START/STOP button. The platter stops rotating. Note The tonearm does not automatically rise when the record finishes playing.
When necessary Checking the speed Care To check and adjust the speed, follow the steps below. Caring for this unit 1 Connect the strobe light to the STROBE jack on the rear panel of the unit. Wipe the unit with a soft dry cloth. If the finish of your unit is piano black, we recommend using a cleaning cloth made for pianos. Do not use chemicals such as benzine or thinner, since they might damage the surface. 2 Place the stroboscopic disc on the platter.
Replacing the belt In certain circumstances, the belt can wear out or break. If this occurs, replace the belt. For a replacement belt, contact your nearest authorized Yamaha dealer or service center. Note Before you replace the belt, turn off the power to the unit and connected devices, and disconnect the power cord of the unit from the AC outlet.
Troubleshooting If the unit stops operating correctly, check the following points. If taking the appropriate action does not solve the problem, or if you encounter a problem that is not listed below, press the POWER button located on the unit’s top panel to turn off the power. Then disconnect the power cord and contact your nearest authorized Yamaha dealer or service center.
Problem Hum is audible. Skips occur. Noise occurs. The sound is distorted. Feedback occurs. Cause Action See page The unit is not connected to the amplifier properly. Connect the unit to the amplifier properly. The head shell is not firmly secured to the tonearm. Use the lock nut to firmly secure the head shell to the tonearm. 16 The cartridge is not correctly secured to the head shell. Preparación Ubicación Debido a que el giradiscos y el sonido de un disco se ven afectados con facilidad por la vibración, debería colocar la unidad en una superficie plana que sea extremadamente estable. Coloque el giradiscos lo suficientemente lejos del sistema de altavoces para que no se vea afectado por la presión o vibración acústica. ATENCIÓN Si necesita levantar o cambiar de ubicación la unidad, asegúrese de hacerlo entre dos o más personas. AVISO No intente girar las patas.

1 Instale el subplato sobre el eje central. 3 AVISO Enrosque los ganchos en el plato y, a continuación, levante el plato sujetando los ganchos. No ejerza fuerza en el eje central al instalar el subplato sobre el mismo. De lo contrario, el eje podría resultar dañado. 2 ATENCIÓN Evite dejar caer el plato. De lo contrario, se pueden producir lesiones o daños en la unidad. Instale la correa alrededor del subplato y la polea.
Instalación de un cartucho Este producto no incluye un cartucho. Siga los pasos siguientes para instalar un cartucho disponible en tiendas en el cabezal de la aguja. 5 Acople el cabezal de la aguja al brazo fonocaptor. Inserte el cabezal de la aguja en el extremo delantero del brazo fonocaptor y gire la contratuerca para fijarlo. Conexiones ATENCIÓN Termine de realizar todas las demás conexiones antes de conectar el cable de alimentación a una toma de CA. Al desconectar, extraiga el cable balanceado XLR “hembra” mientras mantiene presionado el pestillo de bloqueo en el enchufe. • Conecte el giradiscos a las tomas de entrada balanceada XLR del amplificador. Siga los pasos siguientes: 1 2 Vuelva a colocar el brazo fonocaptor en el soporte del brazo y fíjelo en posición. Utilice la llave hexagonal para aflojar el tornillo de ajuste de VTA. Encendido de la unidad Pulse el botón POWER en el panel superior de la unidad para encender la alimentación.
Reproducción de un disco Puesta en marcha del disco ATENCIÓN 4 Levante la palanca elevadora. 5 Mueva el brazo fonocaptor a la posición de reproducción del disco. 6 Baje la palanca elevadora. Si empieza a reproducir un disco sin bajar primero lo suficiente el volumen de su amplificador, se puede producir un sonido fuerte cuando la punta de la aguja entre en contacto con el disco.
Pausa del disco Si levanta la palanca elevadora, el brazo fonocaptor se eleva y la reproducción se pone en pausa. Al bajar la palanca elevadora, la reproducción se reanuda. Detención del disco 1 2 3 4 Levante la palanca elevadora. Vuelva a colocar el brazo fonocaptor en el soporte del brazo. Baje la palanca elevadora. Pulse el botón START/STOP. El plato deja de girar. Nota El brazo fonocaptor no se eleva automáticamente cuando el disco termina de reproducirse.
En caso necesario Comprobación de la velocidad Cuidados Para comprobar y ajustar la velocidad, siga los pasos siguientes. Conecte la luz estroboscópica a la toma STROBE del panel trasero de la unidad. Limpie la unidad con un paño suave y seco. Si el acabado de la unidad es Piano Black, se recomienda utilizar un paño de limpieza específico para pianos. No utilice productos químicos como bencina o disolventes, ya que podrían dañar la superficie. Coloque el disco estroboscópico sobre el plato.
Sustitución de la correa En determinadas circunstancias, la correa puede desgastarse o romperse. En tal caso, sustituya la correa. Para obtener una correa de repuesto, póngase en contacto con su centro Yamaha de atención al cliente o concesionario autorizado más cercano. Nota Antes de sustituir la correa, apague la alimentación de la unidad y los dispositivos conectados, y desconecte el cable de alimentación de la unidad de la toma de CA.
Resolución de problemas Si la unidad deja de funcionar correctamente, compruebe los siguientes puntos. Si al realizar la acción correspondiente no se soluciona el problema, o si encuentra un problema que no aparece en esta lista, pulse el botón POWER situado en el panel superior de la unidad para apagar la alimentación. Luego desconecte el cable de alimentación y póngase en contacto con su centro Yamaha de atención al cliente o concesionario autorizado más cercano.
Problema Se oye un zumbido. Se producen saltos. Se oye ruido. El sonido se distorsiona. Se produce retroalimentación. Causa Acción Consulte la página La unidad no está conectada adecuadamente al amplificador. Conecte adecuadamente la unidad al amplificador.
