MIDI echo back of Cubase and local control of the instrument
Cubase returns the MIDI events that received from the connected MIDI instrument simultaneously back
to the instrument. This is referred to as “Echo Back.”
However, this produces an undesirable “double” sound — that of the MIDI data coming from the
instrument keyboard and the same MIDI data being returned back from the computer. To prevent this,
the Local Control parameter should be set to “off.” In this situation, only MIDI data from the computer will
produce the sound.
Local Control is set on the [UTILITY] [F6] MIDI [SF2] SWITCH display or by selecting a Quick
Setup on the instrument. For details, see the MOXF6/MOXF8 Owner’s Manual.
Monitoring the instrument sound
When recording to Cubase, there are two methods of monitoring: Direct Monitor “on” and “off.” This
Direct Monitor parameter can be set on the [UTILITY] [F5] USB I/O display or by selecting the Quick
Setup on the MOXF6/MOXF8. For details, see the Owner’s Manual of the MOXF6/MOXF8.
Direct Monitor on
With the Direct Monitor on, you can monitor the instrument sound directly from the instrument without
latency.
