Connections Handling caution • Before connecting the instrument to other electronic components, turn off the power for all components. Before turning the power on or off for all components, set all volume levels to minimum. Also, be sure to set the volumes of all components at their minimum levels and gradually raise the volume controls while playing the instrument to set the desired listening level.

Before Using the Digital Piano Before Using the Digital Piano Key Cover To open the key cover: Using the hand grip in the center on the front, lift open the key cover. ENGLISH To close the key cover: Grip the hand grip at the center of the panel, and close the key cover. CAUTION Be careful to avoid catching your fingers when opening or closing the cover. CAUTION Hold the cover with both hands when opening or closing it. Do not release it until it is fully opened or closed.
Before Using the Digital Piano 2. Turn the power on. Press the [POWER] switch located on the right of the keyboard to turn the power on. Reference Listening to the Demo Songs and the 50 Piano Preset Songs Listening to the Demo Songs and the 50 Piano Preset Songs The N-100 contains Demo songs that effectively showcase the voices of the instrument, and includes performance data of 50 different popular piano songs for your listening enjoyment. 1. Press the [POWER] switch to turn the power on. The power indicator located below the left end of the keyboard and the button names on the panel light up. NOTE 2. Adjust the volume.
Listening to the Demo Songs and the 50 Piano Preset Songs Change the 50 Piano Preset Songs The number of each piano preset song is assigned to the C2–C#6 keys. To select one of the 50 preset piano songs, simultaneously hold down the [DEMO] button and press the key corresponding to the song (as shown in the illustration below). To play all preset songs automatically in succession, simultaneously hold down the [DEMO] button and press the D6 key.

Pressing the [SELECT] button switches among the following ten voices. Voice Name C1 Grand Piano 1 C#1 Grand Piano 2 Piano & Strings Electronic Piano 1 D1 Description Recorded samples from a full concert grand piano. Also includes three levels of dynamic sampling, sustain samples, and key-off samples for exceptionally realistic acoustic grand piano sound.
Selecting & Playing Voices Using the Pedals ENGLISH The N-100 has three foot pedals: damper pedal (right), sostenuto pedal (center), and soft pedal (left) that produce a range of expressive effects similar to those produced by the pedals on an acoustic piano. Damper pedal (right) When you press the damper pedal, the notes you play have a longer sustain.
Selecting & Playing Voices Combining Voices (Dual) You can play voices simultaneously across the entire range of the keyboard. In this way, you can combine similar voices to create a thicker sound. 1. While holding down the [PIANO/VOICE] button, press two keys in the range of C1 through A1 simultaneously (or press one key while holding another) to engage Dual. ENGLISH Refer to “Selecting Voices” on page 15 for more information on the voices that are assigned to the keys.
Selecting & Playing Voices Adding Variations to the Sound–Reverb This control enables you to select four different types of reverb effect that add extra depth and expression to the sound to create a realistic acoustic ambience. ENGLISH Key Reverb Type Description C2 Room This setting adds a continuous reverb effect to the sound, similar to the acoustic reverberation you would hear in a room. C#2 Hall 1 For a “bigger” reverb sound, use the HALL 1 setting.
Selecting & Playing Voices Transposition The N-100’s Transpose function makes it possible to shift the pitch of the entire keyboard up or down in semitone intervals to facilitate playing in difficult key signatures, and to let you easily match the pitch of the keyboard to the range of a singer or other instruments. For example, if you set the transposition amount to “+5,” playing key C produces pitch F.
Selecting & Playing Voices Touch Sensitivity You can adjust the volume level that changes depending on how fast or strong you hit the keys. The following four settings are available. ENGLISH Key Touch Sensitivity Description A6 FIXED The volume level does not change at all regardless of whether you play the keyboard soft or hard. A#6 SOFT The volume level does not change much when you play the keyboard soft or hard. B6 MEDIUM This is the standard piano touch response (default setting).

Before doing this, set all volume levels to minimum (0). MIDI [IN]: Receives MIDI data. MIDI [OUT]: Transmits MIDI data.
