Remote Control Assignments
Bank buttons [PRE 1] – [PRE 8]
Pressing the [PRE 1] – [PRE 8] buttons has the same function as
pressing the [ENTER] button when the cursor is on any channel.
Pressing the [F4] E Bank/[F5] Bank F buttons switches the
channels being controlled on the MOTIF XF in groups of eight
channels.
Bank buttons [USER 1] – [USER DR]
These function as the [REC 1] – [REC 8] buttons, and switch the
recording on/off for the corresponding channel. Pressing the [F4] E
Bank/[F5] Bank F buttons switches the channels being controlled
on the MOTIF XF in groups of eight channels.
Group buttons [A] – [H]
These function as the [SOLO 1] – [SOLO 8] buttons, and switch the
Solo on/off for the corresponding channel. Pressing the [F4] E
Bank/[F5] Bank F buttons switches the channels being controlled
on the MOTIF XF in groups of eight channels.
Number buttons [1] – [8]
These function as the [MUTE 1] – [MUTE 8] buttons, and switch the
Mute on/off for the corresponding channel. Pressing the [F4] E
Bank/[F5] Bank F buttons switches the channels being controlled
on the MOTIF XF in groups of eight channels.
Number buttons [9] – [16]
These function as the [SELECT 1] – [SELECT 8] buttons, and select
the corresponding channel. Pressing the [F4] E Bank/[F5] Bank F
buttons switches the channels being controlled on the MOTIF XF in
groups of eight channels.
n When using Digital Performer, you can select multiple channels
on the LCD of the MOTIF XF by holding down the [F6] Shift
button and pressing the appropriate number buttons.
Function/Sub Function buttons
Knobs 1 – 8
Concerning the Function buttons [F1] – [F6], the Sub Function
buttons [SF1] – [SF6], and the Knobs 1 – 8: the Control functions
differ depending on the software you use.
[EFFECT BYPASS INSERTION] button
Switches the display format for the location on the DAW software
SMPTE (absolute time) or Beats (Meas, Beat, Clock).
The software functions for each DAW are explained in the next
section.
When controlling Cubase 5
A specific function has been assigned to each page. Use the
[SELECTED PART CONTROL] and [MULTI PART CONTROL] button
to select the desired page.

Project Mixer Edit E Bank Bank F Shift
Buttons Functions
[F1] Project Brings the Track View window of active project to
the top of the stack.
[F2] Mixer Starts the Mixer window, brings it to the front of the
computer screen, or closes the window.
[F3] Edit Opens or closes the Edit window of the selected
block (Audio/MIDI). If you hold down this button for
a few seconds, the window remains open while you
continue holding down this button.
[F4] E Bank
[F5] Bank F
Scrolls through the channel indication on the LCD
of the MOTIF XF every eight channels.
[SF1] Flip Exchanges the functions between the Channel
Knobs and the Faders.
[SF3] Name/Val Changes the indication of the parameter name and
its value.
Buttons/Knobs Functions
[SF2] Pan Assigns the parameters of the each channel’s pan
to the knobs on the MOTIF XF. This operation is
shown in the Mixer window.
Knobs 1 – 8 Edits each of the parameters.

Buttons/Knobs Functions
[SF1] EQ Assigns a four-band EQ parameter in the selected
channel to a knob on the MOTIF XF. This operation
is shown in the EQ section in the DAW Project
window.
Knobs 1 – 8 Edits each of the parameters.
