Memory Speicher When either Single Finger Chord or Fingered Chord is on, the MEMORY lamp automatically illuminates. If a rhythm is on, when you lift your finger(s) from the keys after playing a chord the accompaniment continues to sound. Thus, you don’t have to hold down the keys, so it is easy to change from one chord to another. Press the MEMORY selector to cancel this effect.
The Transposer ® lets you adjust the PortaTone’s pitch to suit either a singing voice—so anyone can sing along as you play—or an instrument such as a trumpet, clarinet or saxophone. When ever A is pressed, the pitch rises by a semi-tone. When T is pressed, the pitch decreases by a semi-tone. And when A and T are simultaneously pressed, normal pitch is obtained.
• The memory is non-volatile, meaning that the memorized data is not immedi ately lost when the power is turned off. (Memorized data is stored for seven days after the power is switched off. To prolong the storage period, turn the keyboard on every seven days.) • Memorized data is automatically cleared and replaced by new data when music is played with Record mode selected. 11 Interface MIDI About MIDI MIDI MIDI is an acronym standing for Musical Instrument Digital Interface, which is a standard interface for connecting keyboards and other devices. The PortaTone is equipped with MiDi jacks (IN and OLTT), thus enabling connection of the PortaTone to another PortaTone or to some other keyboard equipped with MIDI jacks (e.g. the Yamaha DX synthesizer), for synchronized performances.
