SPIELVORBEREITUNGEN In diesem Abschnitt erfahren Sie, wie Sie Ihr PortaTone spielbereit machen. Lesen Sie den Abschnitt daher vor Gebrauch des Instruments bitte aufmerksam durch. Stromversorgung Obwohl das PSR-195/79 wahlweise über einen Netzadapter oder von Batterien mit Strom versorgt werden kann, empfiehlt Yamaha den Gebrauch eines Netzadapters, sofern möglich. Netzstrom ist eine umwelfreundlichere und nicht erschöpfende Energiequelle.
SPIELVORBEREITUNGEN Anschluß von Zubehör/ externen Geräten ■ Gebrauch von Kopfhörern Wenn Sie im stillen üben oder andere beim Spielen nicht stören möchten, können Sie einen Stereokopfhörer an die PHONES/AUX OUT-Buchse auf der Rückseite anschließen. Die eingebauten Lautsprecher werden beim Beschalten dieser Buchse automatisch vom Signalweg getrennt.
DIE ERSTEN SCHRITTE — ABSPIELEN DER DEMO-SONGS Das PortaTone ist mit einer Vielzahl von Demo-Songs programmiert, die speziell dazu erstellt wurden, Ihnen eine Vorstellung von den dynamischen Sounds und Rhythmen sowie dem Spielpotential des Instruments zu geben. Zunächst das Instrument einschalten. Drücken Sie die STAND BY/ON-Taste. Beim Einschalten wird automatisch der Voice-Modus mit Stimme 1 (Grand Pno) vorgegeben. STAND BY ON Die Lautstärke einstellen.
DISPLAYANZEIGEN Ihr PortaTone ist mit einem großen Mehrfunktionsdisplay ausgestattet, das alle wichtigen Einstellungen des Instruments auf einen Blick anzeigt. PORTABLE GRAND Mit dieser bequemen Funktion können Sie automatisch den aktuellen Modus verlassen und die GRAND PIANO-Voice (Konzertflügel) aufrufen. “STEREO SAMPLING PIANO” Die flügelförmige PORTABLE GRAND-Taste drücken. METRONOME PORTABLE GRAND Beim Aktivieren dieser Funktion werden alle anderen Modi und Funktionen aufgehoben, und das Instrument wird für Konzertflügelspiel mit der speziellen “Stereo Sampling Piano”-Stimme (Voice Nr. 001) konfiguriert.
PORTABLE GRAND Einstellen der Metronomtaktart Zifferntastenfeld 1 Für die Metronomzählung kann eine auf Viertelschlägen basierende Taktart eingestellt werden. NOTIZ: Die Taktart ändert sich automatisch, wenn ein Style oder Song gewählt wird. Halten Sie die METRONOME-Taste gedrückt, und tippen Sie dabei gleichzeitig die Zifferntaste an, die der gewünschten Taktart entspricht (siehe rechts abgedruckte Übersicht).
AUSWÄHLEN UND SPIELEN VON STIMMEN Der Voice-Modus bietet 100 authentische Stimmen, die auf Yamahas modernem AWM-Tonerzeugungssystem basieren (AWM = Advanced Wave Memory). Viele dieser Stimmen oder Voices sind mit speziellen Voreinstellungen oder Ausschmückungen versehen. Die Stimmen sind gemäß ihrer Eigenschaften und Effekte in mehreren Voice-Banken gruppiert. “STEREO SAMPLING PIANO” AUSWÄHLEN UND SPIELEN EINER STIMME Auf Voice-Modus schalten. Drücken Sie die VOICE-Taste.
AUSWÄHLEN UND SPIELEN VON STIMMEN Stimmen können auf drei verschiedene Weisen ausgewählt werden: 1) durch direkte Eingabe ihrer Nummer über das Zifferntastenfeld, 2) durch schrittweises Weiterschalten aufwärts/abwärts mit den Tasten + und -, oder 3) durch Weiterschalten aufwärts mit der VOICE-Taste. Auswahl mit dem Zifferntastenfeld Geben Sie die Stellen der Stimmennummer so ein, wie am Bedienfeld aufgedruckt. Beispiel: Zum Auswählen von Stimme Nr.
AUSWÄHLEN UND SPIELEN VON STIMMEN NOTIZ: Das PortaTone hat eine Polyphoniekapazität von maximal 16 Noten. (Bei gewissen Stimmen, z. B. SPLIT- und DUAL-Voices, ist die Zahl der Noten, die in Ton umgesetzt werden können, entsprechend geringer). Dies schließt nicht nur die auf der Tastatur gespielten Noten mit ein, sondern auch die von einem StyleMuster oder durch ein Pad (Seite 40) u. dgl. “automatisch” erzeugten Noten.
AUSWÄHLEN UND SPIELEN VON STIMMEN TRANSPONIERUNG UND STIMMUNG Bei Bedarf können Sie das PortaTone anders stimmen (TUNE-Funktion) oder in eine andere Tonart versetzen (TRANSPOSE-Funktion). Transponierung Die Einstellung der TRANSPOSE-Funktion bestimmt die Tonlage/Tonart, in der die gewählte Stimme sowie die automatische Baß/Akkord-Begleitung des gewählten Styles gespielt wird. Diese Einstellung gibt außerdem auch die Tonhöhe der Songs und der Multi-Pad-Phrasen vor.
AUSWÄHLEN UND SPIELEN VON STIMMEN Stimmung Die Einstellung der TUNING-Funktion bestimmt die Tonhöhe, in der die gewählte Stimme sowie die automatische Baß/Akkord-Begleitung des gewählten Styles gespielt wird. Diese Einstellung gibt außerdem auch die Tonhöhe der Songs und der Multi-Pad-Phrasen vor. So können Sie das Instrument auf einfache Weise an die Tonhöhe anderer Instrumente anpassen. Die Tonhöhe kann innerhalb des Bereichs von ± 50 (etwa ± 0,5 Halbtöne) verändert werden.
AUSWÄHLEN UND ABSPIELEN VON SONGS — DER SONG-MODUS Der Song-Modus bietet 100 spezielle Songs, die mit den vollen und dynamischen Sounds des PortTone erstellt wurden. Die Songs sind generall zum Anhören gedacht — Sie können jedoch, wenn Sie möchten, auf der Tastatur dazuspielen. Über die Stimmenwechselfunktion können Sie vorgeben, ob die Tastatur-Stimme sich bei Stimmenwechseln im Verlauf des Songs entsprechend ändern soll oder nicht.
AUSWÄHLEN UND ABSPIELEN VON SONGS — DER SONG-MODUS NOTIZ: Sie können mit der gegenwärtig gewählten Stimme (Voice) zum Song dazuspielen und bei Bedarf eine andere Stimme für Ihr Tastaturspiel auswählen. Hierzu schalten Sie während der Songwiedergabe einfach in den Voice-Modus, um dort die gewünschte Stimme zu wählen. Zum übergangslosen Erhöhen/Erniedrigen des Werts können Sie die Taste auch gedrückt halten. Rücksetzung auf den Vorgabe-Tempowert Für jeden Song und jeden Style gibt es ein eigenes Vorgabe- bzw. Standardtempo.
AUSWÄHLEN UND ABSPIELEN VON SONGS — DER SONG-MODUS EINSTELLEN DER SONGLAUTSTÄRKE Die Wiedergabelautstärke des Songs kann bei Bedarf geändert werden. Diese Lautstärke-Regelfunktion wirkt nur auf die Lautstärke von Songs. Der Einstellbereich für die Songlautstärke geht von 000 bis 127. Die SONG VOL.-Funktion des OVERALL-Menüs auswählen. Drücken Sie die OVERALL-Taste s oder t, ggf. wiederholt, bis “SongVol” auf dem Display erscheint.
AUSWÄHLEN UND ABSPIELEN VON SONGS — DER SONG-MODUS SONG-STEUERFUNKTIONEN Im Song-Modus sind die unten abgebildeten Tasten mit Song-Steuerfunktionen belegt. Hat im Song-Modus keine Funktion. Mit dieser Taste kann die Songwiedergabe abwechselnd gestartet und gestoppt werden. SONG a Mit dieser Taste kann die Wiedergabe abwechselnd angehalten und fortgesetzt werden (Pause-Funktion). Mit dieser Taste kann rückwärts durch die Taktnummern geschaltet werden (Rücklauf).
AUSWÄHLEN UND ABSPIELEN VON SONGS — DER SONG-MODUS Punkt B (den Endpunkt der Schleife) festlegen. A-b Drücken Sie nun am Endpunkt der Wiederholschleife die Taste ein weiteres Mal. Die gewählte Phrase wird dann als Endlosschleife wiederholt gespielt, bis Sie die Wiedergabe stoppen. Repeat MEASURE 012 Die Wiedergabe anhalten oder stoppen. Drücken Sie die Pause (❙ ❙)- oder die START/STOP (>/■)-Taste.
AUSWÄHLEN UND ABSPIELEN VON SONGS — DER SONG-MODUS MELODIE-SPIELHILFE Das PortaTone bietet eine spezielle Melodie-Spielhilfe (MELODY GUIDE), mit der das Erlernen der 100 Songs mehr Spaß macht und leichter vonstatten geht. Während der Songwiedergabe zeigt das PortaTone die Noten der Melodie auf den Notenzeilen und der Tastaturgrafik des Displays an — Sie wissen daher stets, welche Noten wann zu spielen sind.
AUSWÄHLEN UND ABSPIELEN VON SONGS — DER SONG-MODUS Die Wiedergabe des Songs starten und die Melodie auf der Tastatur spielen. Starten Sie die Wiedergabe auf normale Weise (Seite 20), und spielen Sie dann die Melodie zum Song dazu. Sie können auch, während der Song spielt, die Spielhilfefunktion mit der MELODY GUIDE-Taste anders einstellen. Zum Stoppen des Songs drücken Sie die START/STOP-Taste (>/■).
AUSWÄHLEN UND ABSPIELEN VON STYLES — DER STYLE-MODUS Der Style-Modus bietet dynamische Rhythmus/Begleitungs-Muster — zusammen mit zum jeweiligen Muster passenden Stimmeneinstellungen — für verschiedene populäre Musikrichtungen. Insgesamt 100 Styles stehen in verschiedenen Kategorien zur Wahl. Jeder Style besteht aus separaten “Sektionen”: Intro (Einleitung), Main (Grundmuster) A und B (mit 4 rhythmischen Schlagzeug-Einwürfen oder “Fillins”) und Ending (Abschluß).
AUSWÄHLEN UND ABSPIELEN VON STYLES — DER STYLE-MODUS Den gewählten Style starten. Zum Starten der Style-Wiedergabe gibt es mehrere Möglichkeiten: Drücken der START/STOP-Taste Der Rhythmus setzt dabei direkt ohne Baß- und Akkordbegleitung mit der gegenwärtig gewählten Main-Sektion (A oder B) ein. (Sie können die gewünschte der beiden Sektionen vor Betätigen der START/STOP-Taste durch einen Druck auf die ensprechende Taste — AUTO FILL/MAIN A oder B — vorwählen.) AUSWÄHLEN UND ABSPIELEN VON STYLES — DER STYLE-MODUS STYLE-SEKTIONEN (MAIN A, MAIN B) UND FILL-INS Während der Style spielt, können Sie ihn über die AUTO FILL-Tasten MAIN A und MAIN B durch Rhythmus/Begleitungsvariationen auflockern. Dabei wird automatisch eines von vier Fill-ins (rhythmischer Schlagzeug-Einwurf) gespielt, das sauber in die nächste Sektion überleitet — auch dann, wenn es sich um dieselbe Sektion handelt. / G rit.
AUSWÄHLEN UND ABSPIELEN VON STYLES — DER STYLE-MODUS GEBRAUCH DER AUTOMATISCHEN BASS/AKKORD-BEGLEITUNG — Akkordwechsel Die ACMP-Funktion erzeugt, basierend auf bestimmten Akkordgriffkonventionen, automatisch Baß- und Akkordbegleitung, zu der Sie dazuspielen. Sie können die Akkorde der Begleitung durch Anschlagen von Tasten im ACMP-Abschnitt der Tastatur wechseln, wobei es zwei Möglichkeiten zum Spielen der Akkorde gibt: vereinfachte Akkordgriffe (Single Finger) und normale Akkordgriffe (Fingered).
AUSWÄHLEN UND ABSPIELEN VON STYLES — DER STYLE-MODUS WAS IST EIN AKKORD? Die einfache Antwort: Mindestens drei gleichzeitig klingende Töne ergeben einen Akkord (Zusammenklang). (Zwei gleichzeitig gespielte Töne sind ein “Intervall” — wobei unter dem Intervall der “Abstand” zwischen den beiden Tönen verstanden wird. Man nennt dies auch eine “Hamonie”.) Je nach den Intervallen zwischen den Tönen sind Akkorde wohlklingend (harmonisch) oder mißtönend (dissonant).
AUSWÄHLEN UND ABSPIELEN VON STYLES — DER STYLE-MODUS SCHREIBEN VON AKKORDNAMEN Das Lesen und Schreiben von Akkordnamen ist eine einfach zu erlernende, jedoch wichtige Kunstfertigkeit (die folgenden Beschreibungen basieren auf der im elektronischen Musikgeschehen üblichen “englischen” Schreibweise mit B (engl.) = h und Bb (engl.) = b).

AUSWÄHLEN UND ABSPIELEN VON STYLES — DER STYLE-MODUS Dict. Bei der Dict.-Funktion handelt es sich um ein eingebautes “Akkordbuch”, das Ihnen die einzelnen Noten (Töne) von Akkorden zeigt. Dies ist eine große Hilfe, wenn Sie die Griffe bestimmter Akkorde schnell erlernen möchten. Bei aktiviertem Style-Modus die AkkordSpielhilfefunktion “Dict.” wählen. Dict. Drücken Sie die CHORD GUIDE-Taste, so daß “Dict.” kurz auf dem Display angezeigt wird. TEMPO 116 ACMP ON Den Grundton des Akkords spezifizieren.
AUSWÄHLEN UND ABSPIELEN VON STYLES — DER STYLE-MODUS MULTI PADS Mit den Pads können Sie verschiedene musikalische und rhythmische Phrasen auf Tastendruck auslösen, während Sie auf dem PortaTone spielen. Die Pad-Tasten bieten insgesamt 40 Sounds bzw. Phrasen (20 Banken mit jeweils zwei Pad-Sounds). Die Phrasen werden passend zum aktuellen Tempo wiedergegeben und werden außerdem harmonisch an die jeweiligen Begleitakkorde angepaßt (sowohl im Style- als auch im Song-Modus).
MIDI Selecting and Playing Styles — The Style Mode Das PortaTone ist mit MIDI-Buchsen ausgestattet, über die es mit anderen MIDI-Instrumenten und -Geräten verbunden werden kann. Sendet MIDI-Daten (Tastaturspiel) an das angeschlossene Gerät. Empfängt die vom angeschlossenen Gerät gesendeten MIDI-Daten.
FEHLERSUCHE 42 Problem Mögliche Ursache und Abhilfe Beim Ein- und Ausschalten des PortaTone ist ein “ploppendes” Geräusch zu hören. Dies ist normal und zeigt an, daß das PortaTone mit Strom versorgt wird. Der Klang der Stimmen oder Rhythmen ist komisch. Die Batterien sind erschöpft. Ersetzen Sie die Batterien durch frische. (Siehe Seite 9.) Beim Spielen auf der Tastatur oder beim Abspielen eines Songs ist kein Ton zu hören.
