REMOVING THE GENERATOR

1. Drain:

9

engine oil

(completely from the crankcase)

Refer to “CHANGING THE ENGINE OIL” in

chapter 3.

2. Remove:

9

side cowling (left)

Refer to “REMOVING THE SIDE COWL-

INGS” in chapter 3.

shift pedal

9

drive sprocket cover

Refer to “REMOVING THE DRIVE CHAIN

AND SPROCKETS” in chapter 6.

3. Disconnect:

9

stator coil coupler

1

9

pickup coil coupler

5. Remove:

9

generator rotor nut

1

9

washer

NOTE:

9

While holding the generator rotor

2

with the

sheave holder

3

, loosen the generator rotor

nut.

9

Do not allow the sheave holder to touch the

projection on the generator rotor.
