6. Displaying Calculation Results
Overview
Y-S

calculates responses on the audience area considering the arrangement of each speaker array, EQ, delay, system
attenuation and other related parameters. The results are displayed in Aspect View or Graph.
Aspect View
Aspect View displays the layout of the speakers, along with sound pressure distributions and contour figures based
on calculation results. To update calculation results, select the center frequency and bandwidth (1/1, 1/3, 1/6, FFT)
from the list box in the upper section of Aspect View, then select the calculation mode icon. If you set bandwidth to
“FFT”, you can enter the bandwidth you want in the text box between 44 22000Hz. Clicking after
changing calculation conditions applies the new conditions to the calculation results and updates Aspect View,
Balloon view and Graph.
Contour figure
Y-S3 displays the contour figure for -3 dB, -6 dB and -9 dB for the target point of the speaker arrays or each speaker
array selected in Aspect View. The contour figure is depicted using three lines, indicating -3 dB (red), -6 dB (orange)
and -9 dB (green) drops in sound pressure from the target point that is closest to the speaker arrays or speaker. You
can show or hide these lines by selecting [Contour (-3dB) (3)], [Contour (-6dB) (6)], or [Contour (-9dB) (9)] from the
[View (V)] menu. These figures are the bandwidth and center frequency figures selected in the list boxes in the upper
area of Aspect View. When speakers are mounted on the floor, the contour figure is not available when the target
point is not located on the receiving surface or is in an area obstructed by walls (first floor only) or floors. Additionally,
Y-S
3
does not display target points or contours of speaker arrays placed using the Symmetryfunction in Enclosure
type - Auto layout and Enclosure type - Manual layout. To display contour figures for walls, open the Project
Properties window from the [File (F)] menu, and place a check in the Contour Displaycheckbox in Others. Y-S
3
does
not display a sound pressure distribution for walls. This wall is used for display the contour figure only, and is treated
as being acoustically transparent. Thus calculations do not take reflections from this wall into account.
Array Mode
Displays a contour figure for speakers displaying target points. A speaker array made up of a single speaker will have
the same display as Single Mode. Speakers distributed on a plane are treated as individual speakers, and thus have
the same display as “Single Mode”.
Single Mode
Displays a contour figure for each speaker displaying target points. When you have placed multiple speakers, you can
use the checkboxes in Speaker List to turn each speaker on/off. Since the contour figures for each speaker are
calculated relative to the respective target points, the SPL for each speaker will be different even for contour lines of
the same color.
