REMOVING THE CRANKSHAFT ASSEMBLY
1. Remove:
8crankshaft assembly1
8timing chain2
8timing chain guide(intake side)
NOTE:
8 Before removing the crankshaft assembly,
remove the timing chain from the crankshaft
sprocket.
8 The crankshaft assembly cannot be re-
moved if the timing chain is attached onto
the crankshaft sprocket.

CHECKING THE CRANKSHAFT AND CON-
NECTING ROD
1. Measure:
• crankshaft runout
Out of specification -» Replace the crank-
shaft, bearing or both.
NOTE:
Turn the crankshaft slowly.
Maximum crankshaft runout
0.03mm(0.0012in)
2. Measure:
• big end side clearance
Out of specification -»Replace the big end
bearing, crankshaft pin, or connecting rod.
Big end side clearance
0.15~0.45mm(0.006~0.018in)
