INSTALLING THE CRANKSHAFT
1. Install:
8timing chain guide (intake side)
8timing chain1
8crankshaft assembly2
NOTE:
Install the timing chain so it is not visible through
the opening in the left crankcase 3.

To avoid scratching the crankshaft and to
ease the installation procedure, lubricate the
oil seal lips with lithium-soap-based grease
and each bearing with engine oil.
NOTE:
Put the timing chain in parallel into the crank-
case, then use hands to place the crankshaft
assembly into the crankcase. Manually rotate
the crankshaft to check whether it is tightly en-
gaged with the timing chain. (if not, install again)

ASSEMBLING THE CRANKCASE
1. Thoroughly clean all the gasket mating sur-
faces and crankcase mating surfaces.
2. Apply:
8sealant
(onto the crankcase mating surfaces)
Yamaha bond No. 1215
90890-85505
Sealant (Quick Gasket
®
)
ACC-11001-05-01
NOTE:
Do not allow any sealant to come into contact
with the oil gallery.
