bowlcover.Removefloat bowl cover.Themain
jet is located under a coverinthe float bowl.
3. Inspectinletneedle valve and seatforwearor
contamination.Replacethesecomponents as
aset.
7. Pullout float pivotpin.Removethe float as-
sembly. Be carefultonot lose thefloatvalve
needlelocated under the float leveladjustment
tang. Remove theneedlejet.
4. Inspect vacuum pistonandrubberdiaphragm.
If the piston is scratchedorthediaphragm is
torn, the assemblymustbereplaced.

8. Reassembleinreverseorder.Paycloseatten -
tiontotheinstallationofthevacuumpiston
diaphragm.

1. Examinecarburetorbodyandfuelpassages. If
contaminated,washcarburetor in petroleum-
basedsolvent. Do not use causticcarburetor
cleaning solutions. Blowout all passagesand
jetswithcompressed air.
2. Examineconditionoffloats. If floats are
leakingordamaged,theyshouldbereplaced.
1. Floatleveladjustment
Measurethedistancefromthebottomofthe
floattothefloatbowlgasket surface. Bendthe
tangonthefloatarm if anyfloatleveladjust -
ment is necessary.Bothfloats must be at the
sameheight.Ifthefuellevel is toohigh, a rich
air/fuelmixturewilloccur.Iftoolow, a lean
mixturewillresult.
