If a wheel is deformedorcracked, it must be
replaced.
2. Checkwheelrun - out.Ifdeflection
exceeds
tolerance,checkwheelbearingorreplace
wheel as required.

5-1 FRONT WHEEL
A. Removal
1. Removecotterpinfromfrontaxlenut.
2. Removethefrontaxlenut.
3. Loosenthetwoaxlenutholdernuts at the
bottomofthefork leg.
4.Raisethefrontwheelofthemachineby
placingsuitablestandundertheengine.
5. Removethefrontwheelaxlebysimulta -
neouslytwistingandpullingoutontheaxle.
Thenremovethewheelassembly.Thespeedo -
metergearunithousingmust be removed.
B. FrontAxleInspection
Removeanycorrosionfromaxlewithemerycloth.
Placetheaxleon a surfaceplateandcheckforbends.
Ifbent,replaceaxle.
Rimrun - outlimits:
Vertical -- 2mm (0.08 in.)
Lateral -- lmm (0.04 in.)
3. Check wheel balance.Rotatewheellightly
severaltimesandobserverestingposition.
If
wheel is notstaticallybalanced,wheel
will
cometorestatthesameposition.
Install
balanceweight at lighterposition (at top) as
i I lustrated.
NOTE:Thewheelshouldbebalancedwith
brakediscsinstalled.
