D. InspectionandLubrication
1. Remove oilsealsandbearings.Inspectbearings
for pitting or otherdamage.Makesurethat
bearingsrollfreely. If a bearing is damaged,
bothbearingsandboth sets ofinner and outer
bearingracesshouldbereplaced.
NOTE: Wheninstallingnewbearings,grease
liberallywithlithiumbase,waterproof
wheel
bearing grease.
2.Alwaysreplace grease seals whenbearings are
removed.
3. Examinerubberbootfordamage.Replace
if
damaged.
E.Installation
Installationofthe swing arm canbe accomplished by
reversingtheremoval procedure. Observeadjustment
proceduresforobtainingequal arm
spacing.
5 - 8 REAR SHOCK ABSORBER
A. Removal
1.Remove one rear shockabsorber at a time,
inspectandreinstallbeforeremoving
the other.

Checktherod. If it isbentordamaged,replace
theshock absorber.
Checkforoilleakage. If oilleakage is evident,
replacetheshock absorber.
Operate shock absorber rodtocheckdamping.
There benonoticeable damping as
shock extends.
Installtheshockabsorberonthemachine.
Rear shockabsorbertightening torque:
