VALVES AND VALVE SPRINGS
3. Install:
• valve cotters
NOTE:
_
Install the valve cotters while compressing the
valve spring with the valve spring compressor
1 and attachment 2.
4. To secure the valve cotters onto the valve
stem, lightly tap the valve tip with a piece of
wood.
CAUTION:
_
Hitting the valve tip with excessive force
could damage the valve.
5. Install:
• valve pads
• valve lifters
NOTE:
• Lubricate the valve lifters with engine oil and
valve pads with molybdenum disulfide oil.
• The valve lifters must move smoothly when
rotated with a finger.
• Each valve lifter and valve pad must be rein-
stalled in its original position.
