REMOVING THE CRANKSHAFT BEARING
1. Remove:
• bearing

Remove the bearing from the crankcase by
pressing its inner race as shown in .
If the bearing is removed together with the
crankshaft, remove the bearing using a gen-
eral bearing puller as shown in .
CAUTION:
Do not use the removed bearing.

CHECKING THE CRANKSHAFT AND
CONNECTING ROD
1. Measure:
crankshaft runout
Out of specification Replace the crank-
shaft, bearing or both.

Turn the crankshaft slowly.
2. Measure:
• small end free play
Out of specification Replace the small
end bearing or piston pin.
Maximum crankshaft runout
0.08 mm (0.003 in)
Maximum small end free play
2.0 mm (0.08 in)
