To ensure quick and convenient use, please read the instructions carefully before using the product. Boot logo: System is started, and the Android operating system starts up:
The system enters the default home interface. *Shutdown: Press the power button. The device options pop-up appears. Shut down as follows: Click OK to shut down safely. *Sleep: When the machine is running under normal operating conditions, briefly press the power button. The machine goes into hibernation, and the screen shuts off. Briefly press the power button again to resume normal operating mode.
Desktop: After the completion of normal start-up, you will see the Android 2.3 desktop (see figure). The default desktop includes the following: the status bar, the quick search bar, main menu icons and a number of shortcut icons. The status bar displays the current system and network status, the battery condition, and the current time. Use the quick search bar to search the web by entering keywords.
From the main menu you can run an installed application, install a new application, start the touch calibration, start the music player, video player or web browser, start games and perform other operations. System settings: Click the ‘Settings’ icon in the main menu interface.
Make a choice from the available options, which include: * Wireless & networks * Sound and display settings * Date and time settings * About device …and more *Date and time settings: Select ‘Time and date settings options’ to enter the date and time settings interface: Choose ‘automatically’ to use the network time. You can also manually set the date, time zone, time, time format, date format and other information.
Select ‘Settings’. If your entry is valid, the operation is successful and the system will use the new value. *Screen brightness: In the setup interface choose ‘Sound and display settings’ to enter the sound and display settings interface. Now scroll down and select ‘Brightness’.
Screen timeout automatically locks the screen after a certain amount of time has passed without any input from the user. The device is then in ‘standby mode’. In the setup interface choose ‘Sound and display settings’ to enter the sound and display settings interface. Now scroll down and select ‘Screen timeout’. The interface appears as shown here: Note: In video playback mode, the device will not enter standby mode.
You can also open and close the Wi-Fi feature by clicking the Wi-Fi bar in the ‘Wi-Fi settings interface’ (shown above). Click the ‘Network notification’ bar to search for a wireless router. Once found, the settings window will pop up. Now enter the requested information to establish a connection with the Wi-Fi network. For some encrypted networks you may have to enter a valid key.
Establish the Wi-Fi connection as explained above. You will then see the screen shown below: *HDMI This product supports HDMI output to HDMI-compatible HDTVs, projectors, displays, etc.
Connecting the MID to the HDMI input of an external device using the HDMI cable: In Settings > Display > Output settings > Output mode, select ‘HDMI’ output mode to set the system output to HDMI. Once you have selected HDMI output, you can go to ‘HDMI settings’ to set the output resolution. When using the HDMI output, the image sent to the external device will also be shown on the tablet’s screen. This is called mirroring.
Installing, uninstalling and running an application *Installing an application: There are a number of ways to install an application in Android, such as via a USB install or through use of a thirdparty installation program. The following steps explain how to install software using the supplied appInstaller. 1. Go to Settings > Applications, as shown below: 2.
3. Copy the APK (application) software installer to microSD or NAND flash memory. Select the ‘appInstaller’ icon in the main menu. 4. Select the first item, system default NAND FLASH, as the search directory. 5. The system begins scanning all the available APKs on the microSD card.
6. Select an available app to install it. *Uninstalling an application: You can use any appropriate third-party software management tool, or you can use the management software included with Android. Select Settings > Application > Management applications, then select an installed application to view the program information, the uninstall program and other options.
Touch calibration When you start the system for the first time, the touch calibration procedure runs automatically. You can also run the touch calibration procedure at any time by selecting ‘touch calibration’ from the main menu. Follow the prompts to complete the calibration procedure. Once completed successfully, the system will prompt you and automatically exit the touch calibration interface.
Music: Click the ‘Music’ icon in the main menu to enter the music player interface. Here you will see a list of all the audio files in the system default user data area, as shown below: You can browse through the audio files on a USB storage device or SD card, or you can download audio files via the network. Arrange the list of available songs by selecting one of the tab buttons at the top of the screen, such as ‘Artists’, ‘Albums’, ‘Songs’, etc. Then select a song to play.
Video: Click the ‘Video player’ icon in the main menu to enter the video player interface. Here you will see a list of all the video files, as shown below: Select a video file to watch in the video player interface, shown below. Here you can select ‘Play’, ‘Stop’, ‘Volume +’, ‘Volume –’, ‘Fast forward’ or ‘Rewind’ or use the ‘Progress bar’ or control keys to control the playback.
Photo browsing: Click ‘Gallery’ in the main menu to enter the Gallery main interface, where you will see all your picture and video files, as shown below: Select a picture file to enter the picture playback interface, as shown below. The options available here include ‘Zoom’, ‘Narrow’, ‘Set’, ‘Delete’, etc.
Wallpaper: The system supports both static image wallpapers and 3D wallpapers. In the desktop interface, hold down the ‘Menu’ button, choose the pop-up menu option, select ‘Wallpapers’, and then select ‘Choose wallpaper source’ from the pop-up: Here you have the following options: ‘Gallery’: You can select a static picture for the system to use as wallpaper. ‘Live wallpapers’: You can select a 3D wallpaper. ‘Wallpapers’: You can select an existing static wallpaper.
If you just touch the screen, the following dialogue box will appear: In this dialogue box you can click ‘Wallpapers’. Then you have the following options: ‘Wallpaper Gallery’: You select a static picture for the system to use as wallpaper. ‘Current Wallpaper’: You select a 3D wallpaper. ‘Photo’: You select a photo for the system to use as static wallpaper.
Note: When you make an SD card recording, the audio file will be saved on the SD card. Press the ‘Record’ button to start recording. Recording ends when you press the ‘Stop’ button. At this point you can select the ‘Play’ button to play the audio file you have just recorded. Press the ‘Use this recording’ button to save the recording. It will be saved to the appropriate location on the SD card. If you do not want to save the recording, press the ‘Discard’ button.
Email client: Click the ‘Email’ icon in the main menu to enter the email client. You must be connected to the internet to use the email client. The first time you will be asked to configure the account information, as shown below: Fill in your email address and your email account password.
Here we are using a POP3 account, so we have to enter the server settings in the pop-up, as follows: You must enter all the information, as supplied by your email provider. The credentials shown in the screenshots are for reference only.
If the settings are correct, the following interface will appear: Select ‘Next’.
Enter the name you want to appear on your outgoing mail in the ‘Your name’ field, ‘Rocky’ for example. Then click the ‘Done’ button to enter the mail interface. It will automatically load your email, and display a list: To view the messages, select a row. Once a message is displayed, you can choose from options such as ‘Reply’, ‘Delete’ and ‘Open attachment’.
External devices: *USB connection: The USB port can be used to establish a connection from the tablet to a PC or USB device. The default connection method is synchronous mode. To access the interface, drag the status bar down: ‘USB connected’: connection to external memory (SD card). Once the configuration is complete, you can see the MID at the PC end where it will have been assigned a drive letter. USB host use: Supports the FAT32 file system for mobile devices such as a USB memory stick.
Plug and Play connection method: Keyboard / Mouse Supports plug and play connection of a USB mouse or keyboard.
