.DESCRIPTION AND USES .
SureGrip
®
134 Clay Strippable Wallcovering Adhesive is
a commercial grade, ready-to-use, clay-based formulated
with a high solids/low moisture content for installing
medium to heavyweight vinyl or non-vinyl materials (up to
40 oz. commercial grade types I, II and III) and special
wallcoverings such as flexible wood, fabric-backed foil
and Mylar
®
.
SureGrip 134 is a non-dilution clay formula designed to
flow easily through pasting machines without the need to
add water and offers excellent wet tack for easy
positioning of heavy materials. It is suitable for use with
moisture sensitive wallcoverings to prevent bubbling,
seam curling and edge lifting. SureGrip 134 is easy to
clean up and will allow fabric-backed and other strippable
types of wallcoverings applied over primed or bare
drywall to strip easily.
SureGrip 134 is not recommended for hanging
lightweight wallpaper or delicate wallcoverings such as
silk, burlap, grass cloth, strings, or fabric that may stain
easily. It is not intended for use to hang borders or
wallcoverings over existing vinyl wallcovering without the
use of a primer. See “Existing Vinyl Wallcovering” under
Application in next column for recommendations.

.PRODUCT APPLICATION .
SURFACE PREPARATION
Surfaces must be clean, dry, sound and free of dust,
grease, wax, oil, old wallcovering adhesive, mold and
mildew and other residue. Inspect the surface for paint
bonding, loose wallcoverings, damaged wallboard or
plaster. Remove old or loose wallcovering and residual
wallcovering adhesive with DIF
®
Wallpaper Stripper.
Repair unsound surfaces. Seal loose paint or damaged
drywall and cured skim coats with Gardz
®
High
Performance Sealer as needed.
PRODUCT APPLICATION (cont.) .
Prime all surfaces (including oil-based paints, oil-based
primers for painted surfaces and latex or oil-based stain-
kill coatings) with an acrylic primer. Use ShieldZ
®
Universal, ShieldZ
®
Universal Plus or ShieldZ Clear Acrylic
Wall Size.
Mold & Mildew
Eliminate pre-existing mold and mildew by washing the
affected area with a solution of ¾ cup of Clorox
®
bleach to
1 gallon of water. Wear protection to prevent skin and eye
contact. Quickly wash off any solution that comes in
contact with your skin. Do not add ammonia or other
cleaning agents to the bleach solution. Rinse surface with
clean water. Allow surface to dry thoroughly before
applying wallcovering.
Drywall
Wipe down with a damp cloth to remove residual joint
compound dust prior to priming. No primer is required
when hanging strippable fabric backed vinyl wallcovering
over bare drywall. However, adhesive must fully cure
(approximately 4-6 weeks) prior to stripping. If uncertain,
priming is always recommended to ensure proper
performance.
Plaster
New plaster must age at least 90 days before hanging
wallcovering. Prime prior to installation.
Glossy Surfaces
Glossy paint, paneling, metal, glass, plastic, etc. should be
primed with ShieldZ
®
Universal, ShieldZ
®
Universal Plus or
ShieldZ
®
Clear Acrylic Wall Size prior to wallcovering
installation. Metal surfaces should be primed with rust
inhibiting Bulls-Eye
®
1-2-3 Primer.
Existing Vinyl Wallcovering
This product is not intended for hanging wallcoverings
over existing vinyl wallcoverings without the use of a
primer. For hanging directly over vinyl without priming, use
SureGrip 127 Vinyl over Vinyl Wallcovering Adhesive
according to label directions. For hanging lightweight
wallpaper or borders directly over unprimed vinyl, use
SureGrip Universal Adhesive or SureGrip Border Adhesive
for Wallpapered Surfaces.
Textile and Delicate Wallcoverings
Take special care to keep the adhesive off the face of
textile or delicate wallcovering. Some wallcovering can be
stained by water alone. Test for stain resistance prior to
installation and hang according to manufacturer’s
instructions.
