Recently, California Proposition 65 has imposed 2 chemicals that “might” be harmful to the
human body if consumed or exposed in large quantity.
Test studies has shown 1 out of 12,000 that will caused cancer or male reproductive harm.
1. DEHP (Bis-Phthalate)
a) Definition - a phthalate plasticizers that is used to soften PVC / Faux leather / Vinyl
b) Product affected – Faux leather / PU / PVC chairs and upholstery
2. TDCPP (Tris Phosphate)
a) An chemical that added into fire retardant foam to prevent flame from spreading
once the foam is caught on fire.
b) Product affected – All furniture that has fire retardant foam
As for DEHP – It will affect “small percentage” of upholstery and chairs that “contain” PVC / PU /
each article of the affected product. HOWEVER, majority of the Bobkona sectional “will” not
have DEHP in the faux leather with a new sourcing and method that does not require to use this
chemical treatment. For specific items that has or has no DEHP, please contact me directly.
As for TDCPP – Same with DEHP, a new source of production method that “does not” require to
use TDCPP onto the fire retardant foam. Majority of the Bobkona will not have label / chemical
within its product. HOWEVER, there will be a small percentage of dining chairs that does use this
chemical. For specific items that has TDCPP, please contact me directly.
