For Your Safety General Care Your handset contains delicate electronic circuitry, magnets and battery systems. You should treat it with care and give particular attention to the following points: • Do not allow the handset, battery or accessories to come into contact with liquids or moisture at any time. Do not immerse the handset in any liquid. • Do not place the handset alongside computer disks, credit cards, travel cards and other magnetic media.

Take care not to allow metal objects, such as coins or key rings to contact or short-circuit the battery terminals. Do not dispose of battery in a fire. The handset’s Li-ION batteries may be safely disposed of at a Li-ION recycling point. Follow local requirements for recycling. Do not put the handset’s battery in your mouth, as battery electrolytes may be poisonous if swallowed.
• • • • • • • • • 10 Do not disassemble or modify the battery. Do not use a damaged or deformed battery. Do not drop, throw, or subject the handset to rough treatment. Do not solder the battery directly. Stop using the battery if abnormal heat, odor, discoloration, deformation, or abnormal condition is detected during use, charge, or storage. Remove the battery whose life cycle has expired from equipment immediately. This equipment is fitted with an internal battery.
F102 User Manual • • • • Be careful not to place the handset near heat sources (such as a heater) or too close to the edge of the table. Power off your phone before you clean it. Use a damp or anti-static cloth to clean the handset. Do not use an ordinary dry cloth or electrostatic cloth. Do not use chemical or abrasive cleaners as these could damage the casing. Remember to make backup copies of all important data on your handset.
Aircraft Safety • • Power off your phone before the airplane takes off. In order to protect airplane’s communication system from interference, it is prohibited to use mobile phone in flight. If you want to use mobile phone before the airplane takes off, you should get aircrew’s permission according to safety regulations. If the mobile phone has the function of automatic timing power-on, please check your alarm setting to ensure that your phone will not be automatically powered on during the flight.
F102 User Manual General Guidelines • • • • In some countries, national law prohibits private copying of copyrighted material. Please check the national legislation of the applicable country concerning the use of such material. Many jurisdictions have laws and regulations about taking pictures in public or private areas and regarding the processing and further use of such pictures. The manufacturer encourages its customers to obey all laws and to respect the personal rights of others.
• • • • • • • 14 Observe any signs that indicate powering off handsets, such as those near gas stations, or explosives, and power off the handset/device immediately. If you have a heart condition, be careful with the settings of call vibration or tone volume. Do not allow children to play with the handset, charger or batteries. Do not use the handset where blasting is in progress. Do not try to make a call or conversation while the temperature of charging battery is above 50°C.

• • • • 16 You MUST NOT stop on the hard shoulder of a motorway to answer or make a call, except in an emergency. Power off your handset at a refueling point, such as a gas station, even if you are not refueling your own car. Do not store or carry flammable or explosive materials in the same compartment as the handset. Electronic systems in vehicle, such as anti-lock brakes, speed control and fuel injection systems are not normally affected by radio transmissions.
F102 User Manual Vehicles Equipped with an Airbag An airbag inflates with great force. Do not place objects, including either installed or portable wireless equipment, in the area over the airbag or in the airbag deployment area. If in-vehicle wireless equipment is improperly installed and the airbag inflates, serious injury could result.
2. Press End Key as many times as needed to clear the display and ready the device for calls. 3. Enter the official emergency number for your present location, for example, 112 (the international emergency number). 4. Press Send Key to dial the number. Follow instructions received and do not end the call until told to do so. When the USIM card is not inserted, press Right Soft Key [SOS] and then enter the official emergency number for your present location.

You should never rely solely on any wireless device for essential communications like medical emergencies. Information on the privacy Camera usage and photo/audio/video recordings carried out with the handset can offend the confidentiality of the subjects.
Introduction Overview Thank you for purchasing the F102 UMTS/GSM/GPRS Mobile Phone. The F102 is a mobile phone operating in UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System), known as 3G, GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) or 2G, and GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) or 2.5G networks and achieves seamless handover between different networks.

Key definition Left Soft Key - Execute prompts that appear in the lower left corner of the screen directly above it. These prompts change according to the screen content.

Send Key • Press to send or answer calls. • In standby mode: Press to show all calls. End Key • Press and hold to turn the phone on/off. • Press to end a call. • Press to reject an incoming call. • Press to cancel dialing. • Press to return to standby mode.
OK Key • In standby mode: Press to open the main menu. • In lists and menus: Start an application/function. Dedicated Switch Key Press to enter Task Manager Screen, from which you can view or manage the events and running applications. You can also set the shortcut keys. C Key • Return to the previous screen, except in the cases when deletable items are selected, in which it is to delete the selected items. • Delete text in the text editor.

The use of extended backlighting, browser, and network conditions can reduce battery life and talk/standby time. Indicators and Icons Indicates the 3G signal strength. Setting Up Your Phone Battery The accessory lithium battery of the handset can be immediately used after unpacking. A new battery will have the best performance after full charge/discharge cycles for the first three times. Installing the battery 1. Insert the battery carefully with the contacts located against the gold springs. 2. Push down the battery until it clicks into place.

Notes: The phone automatically switches off if the battery voltage is too low. ¾ When not using the battery for a long period, remove it from the phone and store it in a cool dry place. ¾ Removing the battery 1. Make sure the power is off. 2. Remove the back cover of your phone. i. Use a fingernail to hook the edge of the cover, as shown in the picture. ii. Lift the cover up to remove it.
3. Lift the battery away from the phone. i. Use a fingernail to hook the edge of the battery, as shown in the picture. ii. Lift the battery up to remove it.
F102 User Manual Charging the battery Your phone is powered by a rechargeable battery. The battery is not fully charged when first unpacked, but there may be enough power to power your phone on. You should use it up completely before charging the battery for the first time. Charge the battery with the procedure indicated below. 1. Insert the charger’s USB adapter into the USB port. See the following picture. 2. Connect the charger to a standard AC wall outlet. 3.
¾ ¾ Caution: Charging is only possible within the temperature range of 0°C to 45°C. It takes 2~3 hours to fully charge the battery. USIM card You can obtain a USIM card from a mobile phone service provider when you sign on as a subscriber. Installing the USIM card 1. Press and hold End Key to power off your phone. 2. Remove the back cover and battery. See Setting Up Your Phone-Battery- Removing the battery. 3. Insert the USIM card into the card holder. See ① of the following pictures. 4.
F102 User Manual Notes: ¾ A USIM card can be easily damaged if its metal contacts become scratched. Therefore, take special care when holding or inserting it. ¾ The charger and other accessories should be disconnected from your phone before you insert or remove the USIM card. ¾ When inserting the USIM card, make sure that the metal contacts face downward and the cut corner is at the top left, as shown on your phone.
Removing the USIM card 1. Press and hold End Key to power off your phone. 2. Remove the back cover and battery. See Setting Up Your Phone-Battery- Removing the battery. 3. Slide the USIM card out of the card holder, as shown in the following picture. microSD Card The microSD card gives your handset a very large memory capacity. This allows you to save multimedia data, including images, photos, MP3 audio files, and ring tones. You can also use this memory card to store any other files.
F102 User Manual Notes: Your phone can support a microSD card with capacity up to 4GB. microSD Logo is a trademark. Inserting the microSD card 1. Pull the microSD cover out of the microSD card slot and rotate it 90 degrees. See ① and ② of the following pictures. 2. Handle the card by the edges and carefully insert it with the cut edge oriented as shown in the picture ③.
3. Push the card until it clicks into position. Removing the microSD card 1. Pull the microSD cover out of the microSD card slot and rotate it 90 degrees. 2. Push the card so it clicks out. 3. Slide down gently and remove the card from the slot. Accessing the microSD card on the phone 1. Press OK Key [Menu] in standby mode to open the main menu. 2. Select File Manager and press OK Key. 3. Press Right Key to get to the microSD card interface. Then you can view the contents of the microSD card on the phone.

Power On/Off Your Phone • Press and hold End Key to power on your phone. • When asked, enter your PIN (Personal Identification Number) code or handset code and press OK Key to confirm. Notes: The PIN code is the password provided by your network service provider. You need this password to use the USIM card. When the entered PIN code or handset code is accepted, the phone will automatically search for the designated network.
Standby Mode When the phone is ready for use after the name of the service provider is displayed on the screen and you have not entered any characters, the phone is in the standby mode: 1. Network name or the operator logo. 2. Indicators and icons. See Introduction-Indicators and Icons. 3. Function of Left Soft Key. 4. Function of OK Key. 5. Function of Right Soft Key.
F102 User Manual Press End Key to return to standby mode from any situation. Signal strength The signal strength icon shows on the top left corner of the screen. More bars indicate a stronger signal. For example, indicates strong signal. Notes: If the phone is not able to detect the designated network, or links to a network that you are not authorized to . use, the signal strength meter will show no bar You will only be able to make emergency calls.
Basic Operations Navigating the menus The phone features, various functions and settings are in menus and submenus. To select a function from menus: 1. Press OK Key [Menu] from standby mode to open the main menu. 2. Use Navigation Keys to scroll up, down, left or right through the main menu. For example, scroll to Settings: 1. Press OK Key [Menu] in standby mode. 2. Use Navigation Keys to scroll to the menu Settings.
F102 User Manual 1. Press OK Key to confirm your selection. 2. Press Left/Right Key to scroll to the desired tab, for example, Handset. 3. Press Up/Down Key to scroll to the desired option, for example, Keyguard. Notes: Options are listed in the menu; you can access the option quickly by pressing the corresponding number key. 1. Press OK Key to confirm your selection. 2. Press Up/Down Key to scroll to the desired option, for example, 10s auto keylock. 3. Press OK Key to save your settings.

Press End Key to end your call. Notes: The called party as well as the network has to be capable of handling video calls.

Press Send Key for a voice call, or press Options > Call > Video call for a video call. Answering a call Answering a Voice Call If there is an incoming call, • Press Send Key to answer it. You can use the microphone on the earphone to talk if there is an incoming call. • Press the button on the earphone to answer the call.
Answering a Video Call Press Send Key. Setting Volume During a call, press Up/Down Key to adjust the call volume. Rejecting a Call If there is an incoming call, press End Key or Right Soft Key to reject it. Ending a Call Press End Key to end a call. Call Options Press Left Soft Key during a call for more options. Options vary depending on the current situation: 1. Before you answer the call: ¾ Mute: Mute your current ringtone.
F102 User Manual SMS reject: Send an SMS message to the caller if your reject his or her call. 2. After you answer the call: ¾ Hold /Active: Put the current call on hold or retrieve the call. ¾ End call: End the current call. ¾ Record: Record the current call. ¾ DTMF off/on: Enable or disable sending DTMF tone. ¾ Message: Switch to SMS editing interface during a call. ¾ Contacts: Switch to Contacts interface during a call. ¾ Browser: You can browse internet by this option while talking.
Locking the keypad 1. Press and hold * Key in standby mode. 2. Press Right Soft Key. The icon will be on the display after you lock the keypad. Unlocking the keypad 1. Press * Key. 2. Press Right Soft Key. Text Input Modes Your mobile phone provides the following text input modes: word predictive text mode, lowercase alphabetic mode, uppercase alphabetic mode and number mode. You can press # Key repeatedly to select an input mode.

Word Predictive Text Mode Word predictive text mode is based on a built-in dictionary and generates words from the combination of letters pressed. 1.

Press key continually, you will start a new loop of “a” to “2”. Number Mode In Number mode, use number keys ~ to enter the number. You can only enter the number directly shown on the keypad. The letters can’t be entered in this mode. Notes: While using Number Mode, you need to switch to other text input modes in order to insert a space by pressing .
Menus Tools In standby mode, press Menu > Tools to access the Tools menu interface. Bluetooth Your phone includes Bluetooth to connect your handset to wireless earphones and hands free car kits. You can also transfer files between your phone and other Bluetooth devices such as another phone or a laptop. Not all applications or devices can be supported as Bluetooth is an open forum and different manufacturers adopt different standards and implementation. 1.
F102 User Manual Bluetooth: Press Left/Right Key to choose Turn on/off the Bluetooth function. ¾ Visibility on/off: Press Left/Right Key to choose On/Off to make your phone visible or invisible. ¾ Phone name: Input the phone name, and then press OK Key. 2. My devices i. Press Right Soft Key to search the available Bluetooth devices. ii. Press Up/Down Key to select the device you want in the list. iii. Press OK Key and enter the pass code. iv.
Browse device: Connect to the selected device and you can save or delete files if you are authorized. Rename: Rename the selected device. Delete: Delete the selected device from the device list. Delete all: Delete all the devices in the device list. Property: View the properties of the selected device. 3. New device You can search Bluetooth devices and create a Bluetooth connection. i. Turn on the Bluetooth function and make your phone visible in Bluetooth manager. ii.
F102 User Manual iv. Enter the pass code when asked for permission to connect to the device. 4. Help Provide the help information of Bluetooth. Alarm You can set the alarm to ring if required. Select your desired alarm to configure in the alarm list. (If there is no alarm, press OK Key to add a new alarm.) 1. Press OK Key to view the selected alarm item. 2.

Notes: If you turn the alarm on, the icon will be displayed in standby mode. The alarm will ring at the set time, even when the phone is powered off. Calendar The phone provides a full-screen monthly calendar. Initially the cursor appears on today’s date according to your handset settings.
F102 User Manual ¾ ¾ ¾ Meeting: Input Subject (required), Location, Start time, End time, Start date, End date, Alarm set, Alarm time, Alarm data, Repeat set and Repeat until. Press Up/Down Key to select each item, and Left/Right Key to select object to be set. The meeting time must be after the current time of the phone. Press OK Key after finish inputting the information. Memo: Input Subject (required), Start date, and End date.

Press OK Key to check the schedule details of the selected date. Press OK Key to edit the schedule item. Press Right Soft Key to delete the selected schedule item.

Stopwatch You can measure time and take split times or lap times, for example, in different sports. 1. Press OK Key to start timing. 2. Notes: Time and date should be set to ensure the World Time function work correctly. Calculator The phone provides simple calculating functions, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. ~ keys to enter numbers. 1. Press 2. Currency Converter This function allows you to convert foreign currency to domestic currency. • Exchange rate: Enter a currency exchange rate. • Foreign amount: Enter the amount of foreign currency to be converted. • Local amount: Shows the conversion result. While inputting the inquired information, you can also do the following operations: 1. Press Left Soft Key to input the decimal. 2. Press OK Key to reset. 3. Press Right Soft Key or End Key to exit currency conversion function.

New Link This function allows you to open a page by inputting the address. You can also press Left Soft Key to select a page and open it. Bookmark All accessed page addresses can be saved as bookmarks in your phone. This function allows you to view, edit and delete the bookmarks, and to go to the bookmarked sites.
• • • • • Information: View the detailed information, such as title and address etc. New Bookmark: Add a new site to the bookmark list. Edit: You can edit and save the title and address of the selected bookmark. Delete: Delete the selected bookmarks. Delete all: Delete all bookmarks. History This function allows you to check the visited pages. Saved Page This function displays the list of pages that saved as off-line files. Settings This function allows you to configure the browser settings.

Press OK Key to active the selected settings. Advanced settings: Press OK Key to enter advanced settings interface. You can set the Display pic, Display Animation, Browser Mode, SmartFit Mode, Background Music, Cache mode, Cookie mode, Autofill Mode, Script and Refresh Limit. Clear cache: Delete all disk cache data.
Version View the edition and copyright information. Games & apps In standby mode, press Menu > Games & apps to access the Games & apps menu interface. From Games & apps screen, you will see the installed Java applications list. 1. Use Navigation Keys to select an application. 2. Press OK Key to run it. Notes: Your F102 has a multi-tasking Java runtime environment, so multiple applications can run at the same time. F102 allows up to 3 applications run concurrently. If you want to run another application. 1.

Options of Games & apps You can do the following operations by pressing Left Soft Key. • If you have selected an application not running: ¾ Info: View detailed information of the Java application. ¾ Remove: Remove or uninstall the Java application. ¾ Update: Update the Java application.
• 70 If you have selected an application running in the background (which is in red): ¾ Foreground: Bring the application to foreground. ¾ End: End the running application. ¾ Info: View detailed information of the Java application. (This option is not available for Java Certificates.) ¾ Remove: Remove or uninstall the Java application. (This option is not available for Java Certificates.) ¾ Update: Update the Java application. (This option is not available for Java Certificates.

If you want to update one application, please make sure that the original application files must exist at the previous URL which is used to install this application. Install Application You may have two ways to install applications: • Press OK Key to download the games or applications from the default website. • Use your PC to download Java applications, then use a microSD card to transfer them to your handset. i.
Notes: JAD file is recommended because some important information is stored in JAD file. The installed application will be un-trusted if you install from a JAR file because it will bypass the digital certificate verification and the security information will be lost. Contacts All You can store contacts with a variety of phone and fax numbers as well as additional address details. Notes: shows the contacts are stored in your USIM • card.
F102 User Manual • shows the contacts are stored in your phone memory and classified as Work. The phone can store up to 200 items. The capacity of a phone book in your USIM card depends on the type of USIM card provided by your service provider. If you select a certain contact, you can press the Left Soft Key to do the following operations: • Call: You can make a voice or video call. • Send: You can send SMS or MMS to the contact.
