The precautions that should be taken when routers are used in a videoconferencing system
are as follows:
lUseenterprise-levelswitchesandrouters.
lDonotuseahub.
lTheroutersmustsupporttheQoSprotocolandalgorithm.Ifnot,upgradethesoftware.
lSetQoSparametersontherouters.SetQoSparametersforvideoservicesand
commonservicesontherouters,sothatvideodatapacketsarenotdiscardedupon
networkcongestion.
lUseasfewrouterhopsaspossible.Videodevicesshouldbeconnectedtothemain
switchifpossible.Reducethenumberoftherouterhopstoavoidtoomuchnetwork
transmission,whichmayaffectvideotransmission.
lUsedifferentVLANstoseparatethevideoconferencingservicefromotherservices.
lWhenthenetworkisblocked,usethebufferqueuetechnologyastherstprevention
method.Largecachesarepreferred.Allocateanindependentcacheforeachport.
