G-210H Overview The G-210H is a wireless network USB adapter for your computer. See page 21 for a list of system requirements. 1 Install the Software " Install the software from the CD before you insert the G-210H. Do not insert the G-210H yet. 1.1 Windows 1 Insert the included CD into the CD-ROM drive on your computer. 2 When the following screen displays, click Setup to install the ZyXEL utility and driver.
G-210H V If the screen does not display, locate and double-click autorun.exe on the CD. 3 In Windows Vista, if the following screen displays, click Allow to continue. 4 The following screen displays. Click Yes.
G-210H 5 In Windows Vista, if the following screen displays, click Install this driver software anyway. 6 Select Driver and Utility to install both ZyXEL utility and driver on your computer. If you are using Windows XP or Vista to manage your wireless network, you do not have to install the Utility.
G-210H 7 Click Next to accept the default file location or click Browse to select an alternate folder. 8 When the following screen displays, click Finish to complete the software installation and restart your computer. 1.2 Macintosh Screen shots for Macintosh 10.4 are shown in the following procedure unless otherwise specified. The screens on your computer may differ slightly from the screens shown here depending on the version of your operating system. 1 Close all programs and applications.
G-210H 3 Double-click the CD's icon. 4 Double-click the Mac Driver folder. 5 Double-click the .dmg file. 6 Double-click your Macintosh OS’s driver folder.
G-210H 7 Double-click ZyXEL_G-210H_MacPkg_Install.pkg to begin the installation procedure. 8 A welcome screen appears. Click Continue. 9 You then see the Select a Destination screen, select a destination drive and click Continue.
G-210H 10 Click Install. 11 In Mac OS 10.3, you then see a screen telling you that you must restart the computer after the installation completes. Click Continue Installation. The driver will automatically install.
G-210H 12 Click Restart to reboot your computer and complete the driver installation. 13 Go to section 3.4 on page 19 to set up your wireless connection. 2 Install the Hardware " Do not install the hardware until you have installed the software from the CD. 1 Locate an available USB port on the computer. 2 Remove the protective cap to expose the USB connector. Insert the G-210H to an available USB port on the computer. The G-210H's lights turn on if it is properly inserted.
G-210H V If the G-210H’s power ( ) and link ( ) LEDs are not on after you have installed the software and the G-210H, make sure the G-210H is properly inserted. 3 Connect to a Wireless Network After you install the ZyXEL utility and insert the G-210H, an icon appears in the system tray (typically at the bottom of the desktop). V If the icon does not display, uninstall and reinstall the ZyXEL utility. See the User’s Guide for how to uninstall the utility.
G-210H 2 Click the Site Survey tab to display the available wireless network(s). SSID means Service Set Identity and is the name of the wireless network. 3.1 Windows Vista Use the following steps to select and connect to a wireless network using Windows Vista. 1 Choose the network you want to connect to and click Add to set up a profile for this connection. 2 Type a name for the profile in the Profile Name field. Other fields show the detected settings for this network.
G-210H 4 Select your network’s security method from the drop-down list. Ask your network administrator if you are unsure what security is used on your network. 5 Click Save. 6 The next screen depends on the security method you select for this profile. If you choose WPA2-PSK this screen appears. Type the PreShared Key for your network. 7 Click Save.
G-210H 8 Congratulations. You have successfully updated a wireless profile. Click Activate Now to connect to the network. 9 Go to step 1 on page 16 to continue setting up your wireless connection. 3.2 Windows XP/2000 Use the following steps to select and connect to a wireless network using Windows XP or 2000. If the icon color is green you are already connected to a wireless network. Go to step 1 on page 16 to complete setting up your wireless connection.
G-210H SSID means Service Set Identity and is the name of the wireless network. If a wireless network has no security, one of the following icons appears next to its entry in the list. If a wireless network has security, one of the following icons appears next to its entry in the list. 2 Choose the network you want to connect to and click Connect. 3 If a network has no security, the Link Info screen displays. Go to step 1 on page 16 to complete setting up your wireless connection.
G-210H 4 If a network has security, the security settings screen appears. You need to enter security information to connect to the network. Get this information from the network administrator. Be sure to enter the information exactly as it was given to you. 3.3 Windows Vista/XP/2000 1 The Link Info screen appears, showing the status of your wireless connection. 2 To access the Internet, open your Internet browser and enter the URL of a web site in the address bar.
G-210H V If you are not able to access the web site, make sure the wireless network is connected to the Internet. Note for Windows XP Users If you want to use Windows XP to manage your wireless connection, either disable the ZyXEL utility (if you already installed it) or just install the driver. • To disable the ZyXEL utility, right-click the icon and select Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC).
G-210H Windows XP SP2 1 Right-click the wireless adapter icon which appears in the bottom right of your computer monitor. Click View Available Wireless Networks to open the Wireless Network Connection screen. 2 Click Refresh network list to reload and search for available wireless devices within transmission range. Select a wireless network in the list and click Connect to join the selected wireless network.
G-210H Windows Vista 1 Click the wireless network icon for wireless connections in the system tray. Select Connect to a network. 2 Select a wireless network in the list and click Connect to join the selected wireless network.
G-210H 3.4 Macintosh 1 The ZyXEL utility should start automatically. Otherwise, double-click the icon. 2 In the Site Survey screen, you can see if you are already connected to a wireless network. If you are not connected to a wireless network, select the network you want to connect to and click CONNECT.
G-210H 3 If your network has security enabled, select your network’s security method from the drop-down list, and type the security key if required. Ask your network administrator if you are unsure about the security settings used on your network. 4 Click OK to connect to your network. System Requirements Before installation, make sure you have a computer with the following: • Pentium II 500 MHz or above • A USB port (with USB1.0/1.1, the G-210H can only transmit at up to 11Mbps.
G-210H • A CD-ROM drive • Windows 2000/XP/Vista, Mac OS 10.3 or later.
