C HAPTE R 1 Using ConnectCaddy App 1.1 Introduction Zyxel device in this User Guide refers to the Zyxel models that the ConnectCaddy mobile app supports.
Chapter 1 Using ConnectCaddy App Figure 1.2.1 ConnectCaddy App Icon Note: The Mobile device running ConnectCaddy app needs to be connected to the same local WiFi network (WLAN) as the Zyxel device. 1.3 Connecting App to Zyxel Device Make sure the mobile device running the ConnectCaddy app is connected to the home WiFi network. Next, launch ConnectCaddy app by tapping on the icon. The app will automatically look for Zyxel device and connect to it. Figure 1.3.
Chapter 1 Using ConnectCaddy App When ConnectCaddy App is used for the first time, it will prompt the user for a password. Use the password printed on the back label of the Zyxel device. Figure 1.3.2 Figure 1.3.

Chapter 1 Using ConnectCaddy App 1.4 WiFi Network Setting Home WiFi network settings can be viewed and changed from the Home Network screen. Tap the (i) icon located on the top right corner (Figure 1.3.6) to access the WiFi network settings. Here you can view and change the WiFi name and password for both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi networks. To change any of the settings, tap on the Pencil icon(Figure 1.4.1). After making changes, tap the Check button on the top right corner to save them. Figure 1.4.
Chapter 1 Using ConnectCaddy App 1.5 App Menu Access the app menu by tapping the icon on the top left corner(Figure 1.5.1). 1 Home Network: The home screen that provides a visual display of all the clients or devices connected to the network.
Chapter 1 Using ConnectCaddy App 1.6 Home Network This feature shows all the devices or clients on the home network. Figure 1.6.1 The Home Network shows two tabs: Home Devices and Guest Devices. Home Devices (default tab) displays all the clients connected to the primary home network. Guest Devices tab displays all the devices connected to the guest network.
Chapter 1 Using ConnectCaddy App 1.7 Client Device Info Tap on any client icon to get more information about that client. For example –“Galaxy-Note5” in Figure 1.7.1. This screen has two tabs – Basic Info(Figure 1.7.2) and Net Access Schedule(Figure 1.7.2) Basic Info displays client’s basic information, such as the Wi-Fi band, Wi-Fi channel, and IP address. Tap the “back arrow button” (Figure 1.7.
Chapter 1 Using ConnectCaddy App 1.8 Controlling Internet Access Use the Net Access Schedule tab within the Device Info screen of the client device to allow, block or schedule Internet access for this client. 1 Tap on the Net Access Schedule(Figure 1.8.2) tab. 2 Select “always” to allow Internet access at all times. Chapter 1 Using ConnectCaddy App 1.9 Guest Wi-Fi Network You can provide Internet access to your guests by creating a separate wireless network. Guests can use a different SSID (network name) and password and you can manage how long this network will be available for them. 1 Tap the Menu icon in the upper left corner, and tap Guest Wi-Fi. Chapter 1 Using ConnectCaddy App 2 Tap START to enable guest Wi-Fi(Figure 1.9.3). Select how long you want the guest Wi-Fi to be available, and tap START again on the dialog box(Figure 1.9.4) to save your changes. It takes about 35 seconds to enable Guest WiFi network. Chapter 1 Using ConnectCaddy App 4 The guest WiFi network can be shared using Wi-Fi QR Code. Go to the Guest WiFi screen and tap on WiFi QR Code, then have your guests’ smart phones scan this QR code to get the SSID and password. Figure 1.9.6 Figure 1.9.
Chapter 1 Using ConnectCaddy App 5 Tap the Pencil icon in the upper right corner in the Guest Wi-Fi screen (Figure 1.9.7) to change the guest WiFi network name (SSID) and password for the guest Wi-Fi. Enter a descriptive name in the Wi-Fi Name field, and a password in the Wi-Fi Password fields. Then, tap the Check icon(Figure 1.9.8) in the upper right corner to save your changes. Chapter 1 Using ConnectCaddy App 2 Go to the Wi-Fi Signal Meter tab, and tap START(Figure 1.10.3) to check the signal strength of the WiFi network at the location of the mobile device running the ConnectCaddy app. The signal strength is maximum (“Excellent”) at the bottom right of the dial.
