LAN
12.1 O ve rvie w
This chapter describes how to configure LAN settings.
A Local Area Network (LAN) is a shared communication system to which many computers are
attached. A LAN is a computer network limited to the immediate area, usually the same building or floor
of a building.

The LAN screens can help you configure a manage IP address, and partition your physical network into
logical networks.
12.2 Wha t Yo u C a n Do
Use the LAN IP screen to configure the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses for your EMG3435-Q20A on the LAN
(
Section 12.4 on page 113).
Use the Sta tic DHCP screen to assign IP addresses on the LAN to specific individual computers based
on their MAC Addresses (Section 12.5 on page 114).
Use the IPv6 LAN screen to configure the IPv6 address for your EMG3435-Q20A on the LAN (

The actual physical connection determines whether the EMG3435-Q20A ports are LAN or WAN ports.
There are two separate IP networks, one inside the LAN network and the other outside the WAN network
as shown next.
