Prestige 100WH Quick Start Guide Chapter 1 Before You Begin 1.1 Purpose Of This Guide This guide provides instructions on how to setup your new Prestige and Windows 95/NT workstations for Internet access using the Prestige Web Configurator (PWC). The Prestige Web Configurator provides a quick, simple, and intuitive way to configure your Prestige.
Prestige 100WH Quick Start Guide 1.3 Information From Your ISP Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) should provide information needed to setup your Prestige, usually in the form of an account configuration sheet. The information includes: l User name and password l ISP’s access phone number. l IP address of ISP’s DNS (Domain Name System) server(s).
Prestige 100WH Quick Start Guide 1.4 Prestige’s Default TCP/IP Settings 1.4.1 IP Address and Subnet Mask Your Prestige is pre-configured in the factory with IP Address of 192.168.1.1 and subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 (Class C). 1.4.2 DHCP Setting Your Prestige has a built-in DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server. DHCP allows the individual workstations on a network to obtain their TCP/IP configuration at startup from a centralized DHCP server (in this case, the Prestige).

The following table describes the LED functions: LED Function Indicator Status Active PWR Power LED Green On RUN Operational Status LED Green Blinking The Prestige is functioning properly. ETHER COL -NET Collisions Green On Transmission collisions have occurred on the LAN. Green On An active station is connected to the port.
Prestige 100WH Quick Start Guide 2.1.3 WAN Port Status LEDs CD (Carrier Detect) signal is sent by the WAN device to indicate that line negotiation is successful and that it is ready for data transfer. RTS (Request to Send) and CTS (Clear to Send) are hardware flow control signals. RTS is from the DTE (the Prestige) while CTS is from the DCE (the WAN device). 2.2 Prestige 100WH Back Panel The following figure helps you identify the rear panel ports of your Prestige 100WH.

Prestige 100WH Quick Start Guide Chapter 3 Windows 95 Quick Start This chapter shows you the step-by-step instructions to configure your Windows 95 workstations for Internet access. 3.1 TCP/IP Installation You must first install TCP/IP protocol on each Windows 95 workstation before you can use it to access the Internet. If you have already installed TCP/IP, skip to the TCP/IP Configuration section on page 9; otherwise, follow these steps: Step 1.
Prestige 100WH Quick Start Guide Step 4. Select the Protocol item and click Add. Step 5. Choose Microsoft from the Manufacturers, and TCP/IP from the Network Protocols. Then click OK. This will install the TCP/IP protocol on your workstation.
Prestige 100WH Quick Start Guide 3.2 TCP/IP Configuration Follow these steps to configure your TCP/IP for Windows 95. Step 1. From the Start Menu, select Settings then open Control Panel. Step 2. Double-click the Network icon to open the Network control panel. A list of installed components is displayed. Click on TCP/IP selection for the installed network card to highlight as shown below, then click the Properties button.

Select Obtain an IP address automatically if your ISP did not assign you a block of registered IP addresses (most cases); otherwise, select Specify an IP address and enter the IP address and subnet mask for this workstation from the block provided by your ISP. Note: Do not assign arbitrary IP address and subnet mask to your workstations.
Prestige 100WH Quick Start Guide Step 5. Select the WINS Configuration tab, and click Disable WINS Resolution. Step 6. On the Gateway tab, highlight any installed gateways and click the Remove button until there are none listed.
Prestige 100WH Quick Start Guide Step 7. On the DNS Configuration tab, select Enable DNS. Enter a unique name for the workstation in the Host box. Enter your domain name in the Domain box if you have one. This field is optional and can be left blank. Leave the DNS Server Search Order box blank if you plan to get the DNS server address(es) from a DHCP server. Otherwise enter the DNS server address of your ISP in the third box and click Add. Click OK to save and close TCP/IP dialog. Step 8.

If you have already installed TCP/IP, skip to the TCP/IP Configuration section on page 15; otherwise, follow these steps: Step 1.

Click the Protocols tab, select the TCP/IP protocol, and click the Properties… button to open the Microsoft TCP/IP Properties dialog.

This field is optional and can be left blank. Make sure the DNS Service Search Order box is blank if you plan to get the DNS server address(es) from a DHCP server. Otherwise click “Add…” to enter the DNS server address(es) of your ISP.
Prestige 100WH Quick Start Guide Step 6. On the WINS Address tab, make sure the toggle button of Enable DNS for Windows resolution is not checked. Step 7. Click on the OK button at the bottom to save and close the TCP/IP Properties dialog. Step 8. Click on the OK button to save and close the Network control panel. Repeat the above steps for each Windows NT workstation on your LAN.
Prestige 100WH Quick Start Guide Chapter 5 Prestige Web Configurator Setup The Prestige Web Configurator (PWC) is a JAVA-based program that provides a quick, simple, and intuitive way to configure your Prestige. Using a “point-and-click” Web-based Graphical User Interface (GUI), you can configure, monitor, and diagnose your Prestige from any workstation on your LAN. The PWC system consists of three components: 1. A browser, either Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 3.02 and above, or Netscape Navigator 3.
Prestige 100WH Quick Start Guide Note: The ZyXEL CD Installer Program (Startup.exe) requires the Microsoft® Visual Basic 5 Runtime libraries. On some systems you may get the message "Error Starting Program" when trying to start the CD-ROM Installer. If this should occur, use the Windows Explorer to open the "VB5Run" folder on the CD, then double-click the "Setup" Icon to run Setup.exe.

Prestige 100WH Quick Start Guide 5.2 Starting the Prestige Web Configurator Step 1. To start PWC, select Startà Programsà ZyXELà Prestige Web Configurator. Your web browser will start and show PWC’s welcome page. Step 2. Click the Wizard Setup button at the bottom of the welcome screen to start the Wizard Setup. The Wizard Setup guides you through the steps necessary to configure your Prestige for Internet access. If this is your first experience with a Prestige, you should begin with the Wizard Setup.
