CHAPTER 11
LAN
11.1 Overview
This chapter describes how to configure LAN settings.
A Local Area Network (LAN) is a shared communication system to which many computers are
connected. A LAN is a computer network limited to the immediate area, usually the same building or
floor of a building.

The LAN screens can help you configure a manage IP addresses and partition your physical network
into logical networks.
11.2 What You Can Do
Use the LAN IP screen to configure the IP addresses for your NBG6818 on the LAN (Section 11.4 on
page 114).
Use the IPv6 LAN screen to configure the IPv6 address for your NBG6818 on the LAN (Section 11.5 on
page 120).
11.3 What You Need To Know
The actual physical connection determines whether the NBG6818 ports are LAN or WAN ports. There are
two separate IP networks: one inside the LAN network and the other outside the WAN network as shown
in the following figure.
