C HAPT ER 1 Fan Module Installation 1.1 Overview The Switch fan module is at the left on the rear panel. Perform the following procedure to remove the fan module in order to replace the entire fan module. Return any malfunctioning fan modules to the manufacture. Although all modules are hot-swappable, it is recommended you disconnect power or make sure you are safely grounded and dry before installing or removing the fan module. 1.1.
Chapter 1 Fan Module Installation 4 1 Use a screwdriver to loosen the screws on the fan slot cover and remove it if any. 2 Grab the handles of the front panel of a fan module with one hand and place the other hand under it to support it. 3 Insert the fan module into the fan slot. 4 Slide the fan module into the slot until it makes contact with the backplane and tighten the screws.
