For RS-232 and V.28 communications where a ±12-V power supply is not available. On-chip charge pump converts the +5 V supply voltage to the ±10 V required for RS-232 levels. Only capacitors are necessary as external components. Specifications compliant with EIA/TIA-232E and CCITT v.28: data rates up to 20 kbit/s. ESD-protected up to ±15 kV as MAX2...E-design.
