Minox broke with tradition and opted for 33mm objectives to bridge the gap between the common 25mm and 42mm sizes, which increased both the light-gathering ability and apparent angle of view - essentially maintaining the compactness of the former with performance similar to the latter. To further increase image brightness, they coated the optics in their proprietary M* anti-reflection coatings which produce high-contrast images, with neutral color rendition so colors appear more true and natural.
