Description

A small compact plant with bold irregularly striped foliage, brings a tropical effect to the home or patio. Most of its green leaves are streaked with creamy gold whereas others are primarily yellow with some green stripes. Each leaf has its own interesting variegation. Pink tipped white drooping flower clusters appear in spring. Slightly arching stout stems hold the 2 ft. L lance shaped evergreen leaves, which grow at intervals along the stem. Outdoor winter hardy only in USDA Plant Zones 8-10, in all other areas, grow indoors in a large pot as a house plant. A striking specimen plant or in masses as a bright backdrop, use to brighten up a lightly shaded area, combine with dark foliage for dramatic contrast, pair with banana or elephant ears for an exotic foliage garden. Grow year round outdoors only in the warmest climates in organically rich moist soil in full sun to part shade. For indoor pots, place in bright light with high humidity. Generally grows 3-4 ft. tall and wide.
