With the Pattex silicone remover both fresh and cured silicone residues up to 2 mm thickness can be removed and re-grouted. Sometimes silicone joints are so moldy or worn that you can hardly clean them. In these cases you should remove the silicone joints, because not only the optics suffers but also the function of the silicone.
