The Rheem® RRT Therm-X-Guard 2.5 Gallon Expansion Tank is designed to provide control of maximum pressures at a level below the relief valve setting. Therefore, the relief valve does not open and ?spillage? is eliminated. It also provides additional space in the system to accommodate the increased volume of water created by thermal expansion, returning it to the system upon demand.
